This is unrelated to this thread, but just to raise awareness:     Mo

I am delifghted to tell everyone this morning, that

"The Man From Del-Monte, He Say YEAH"

S
eriously, Brian Wootton has agreed to get to Crufts (although wasnt going) and represent us as Press Officer.  We had a long chat, and he is not in favour of splitting the breed - for very good reasons, as good as for the ones in favour of the split (almost ) - so its all a bit of a head-banger, but I also put others points to him, which he was also interested in.  Good Debate... outcome, have a word with him.   He will be at Crufts, he will be by the Breed Council Stand, and I urge you all to tell your friends and others that may be asked any questions - to head them into the direction of Brian.  say to everyone - that - he will only be effective for us, if he is used.  Dont speak with people, and get into hot water, then send them to him, send them right away to "Our Press Officer" - and if you are not sure who is asking questions of you, send em anyway in case.

I Am going to speak with some-one who began this interesting thought - from the Bulldog people, and see how they are going to mann the position, and will be back to you all and to Brian.  Incidentally, and very sadly, Brian feels that as KC Liason Officer, he has been consulted about nothing.  He is more than happy to get involved in debates about various issues, relating particularly to the KC and health and the welfare of the GSD as a breed - but is not being asked to attend various meetings and not being consulted. As a gentleman, he wouldnt dreamo of asking to be there, but is available if necessary in the eyes of others.

How Sad Is That  !!!   Brian has a wealth of experience, is a very eloquent man that you could quite imagine could make an impression at the KC - and is willing to be involved.   "Willing Workers" and all that.

As well as having no pc - and fairly recently a telephone - he doesnt drive, so would appreciate a lift to the event.  Anyone near Wolverhampton?  High Heath Essinton to be precise, that would give our Press Officer a lift to Crufts.

Bless you Brian, you live in another age, but are there when required.

Mo - Mascani.

Hi Mo
I was never in any doubt that Brian would say YES and am absolutely delighted that he has confirmed this in his reply to you MO and the fact that he is even now going to Crufts when he had obviously not planned to this year.

As for the other things you have said Mo, I absolutely agree with you.  I have had a quite a few interesting telephone chats with Brian over the past year, I actually rang him before Crufts last year to ask him if he would be willing to be the 'official' interpreter for our German visitors should any situation arise where we needed one, especially as Reinhard does not speak any English. Brian was the person I wanted to secure for the job (if needed) because I trusted him emphatically.
We spoke later in the year on how we at West Yks were annoyed that as the BC Elected KC Laison officer why Brian was not invited along to the KC to take part in the discussions re - changes to the standard held  in Nov08. As the Official Elected BC Laison officer to me Brian Wooton is the FIRST person that the KC should invite to ANY Meeting they have regarding our breed.  He should be the First name on the list before the BAGSD rep, the GSDL rep as he was democratically VOTED for by ALL THE BREED CLUBS therefore In my opinion he is the ONLY PERSON Officiall Elected to Collectively Represent all of us at the KC.

Sue

This subject has aroused considerable interest in a split in the breed. Over 12,000 viewings and nearly six hundred contributions prove this. Since then other threads have sprung up, all valid. Collectively, they all represent the same theme. THE NEED AND TIME FOR CHANGE IS WANTED AND NOW! With this mind I would like to suggest that we keep all threads under one title and message board post. This would, I think, make it easier for all to follow all the threads and, it would be easier to keep one topic on the front page of the message board. Sadly, on the negative side, most contributions come from the same people and from the tone of some postings it is no wonder that more contributors do not come forward. There are too many who want to fight with anyone, over anything and at anytime. We must unite to succeed and set aside these personal differences. The rest of the world is watching. David Payne has done a good job in getting this subject to the forefront together with his contributions on the threads. He may not be popular with some people but he has had the courage to make a stand in the interests of the breed from which we will all benefit PROVIDED that we all stick together. It would be nice if spokesmen from the three principle Clubs entered this debate with statements on behalf of their Clubs. If they cannot, or, are unwilling to contribute openly and give the further development of THE GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG the direction that it needs, then, ask yourselves WHO WILL? Mackenzie

Mackenzie, Contributing openly to give the further development of the German Shepherd Dog the direction it needs, I dont need to ask WHO WILL, the people who have contributed to this topic on the messageboard WILL.

Hello Sue

To put things into perspective the viewing figure to date is12,711 and the number of contributions 598 and that represents only 4.7% of the viewings.   From those that have contributed to the messageboard there will be a few who cannot give direction for one reason, or another.  From the people that are left and, have many contributions, can you put together a list of names who would be capable and willing to take on the job?  If so, how many?

We must get more contibutions from the more prominent members of the breed, some of whom have a wealth of experience which will be beneficial to the breed.  Perhaps with your persuasive skills you can encourage some of these to contribute.  We need a bigger opinion base.

regards

Mackenzie
