If there is a split what happens to all the 25/75 or 50/50 breeding of English and Germanic lines?

Also Joe public who buy's many of the GSDs out there like to have KC registration papers - who is going to re-educate them into knowing the difference.

That's where all the nitty gritty starts, Liebe.  However, I do feel that the KC has had enough opportunities to try to get it right and they've failed us and our dogs at every turn... now they want us to accept a change in the standard... NO!  Maybe they want rid of us?

Maybe they want rid of us?

Maybe they do.....Cracking photo of an Alsatian...note the correct spelling....Lovely 6 month old pup ! Looks to me as if she fits the standard perfectly....I see no sign of a roach, and she has perfectly neat hocks !

I see two pictures of the same breed of dog, both a different in structure but the SAME breed.

God how DO you get through each day...

But not the German... German Shepherd Dog standard, Nettagirl.  In fairness... she looks like she has good feet!

BUT................We are English - breeding and showing in England under Kennel Club rules and standards - inconvenient for some, but the truth nonetheless

by Nettagirl on 18 January 2009 - 18:01

I was talking about the UK KC Breed standard, which breeders, judges agree to adhere to. Do Judges not have to be approved by the KC to award CCs in the breed? Do judges agree to abide by KC rules and judge to the KC standard when they judge?
If, they feel they cannot abide by the KC Rules, dont accept the judging appointments!
Yes, Please do go and set up your own WUVS club, take all your followers with you, and leave those who will NOT ever be persuaded to join you, stay with the KC.

I think we're British EQ.  The KC rules and standards... well, quite a few show overseas now and more will follow.  In truth, I think the KC has little to offer a great many breeds, but they DO have a monopoly... I think the end is nigh, the little piccy on their new standard is not what the majority breed, show or want and it's incorrect.

Germany is the country of origin and it's their standard that counts, imo.

ok queerie here on my kc regs i have german shepherd (alsatian), therefore if i was to register an alsatian would it read alsatian (german shepherd),  note the brackets, so does this not mean the  breed is already split, as on kc reg there are 2 breed  names, german shepherd /alsatian,  therefore the question i am askin is why can the kc not register a german shepherd for those who choose to breed a german shepherd, and  an alsatian for those who choose to breed an alsatian, it astonishies me that for years the kennel club has recognised the separation in the breed and why now are the kennel club trying to back track on years of german shepherd  and alsation, there is as we all know  a significant difference  between the german shepherd and the alsatian, so why wouldnt the kc split the breed
are they saying the german shepherd is incorrectly bred?  but to breed standard it is not
so i think the same as numerous people that the breed should be split

I Dont agree to a split

What next? Have a split between the working side as well? We have to keep going & try to edecate the public as to what a true German Shepherd dog is. I do believe alot of us on the Germanic side need to get our house in order first. Think about it, long loose hocks , soft ears , over sized dogs, the list goes on but in my opinion definetly NO SPLIT.

Regards
Ally
