I had another thought for you. Appeal to your local newspaper for help. See if they'll run a "help search for my dog" story. Our local paper and regional papers have been known to do this. Even for a lost cat! If they have the space, they just might help you out. What have you got to lose?  The more people who are looking the better. And if someone stole your dog, they might give it up because they can't hide the dog anymore, (his pix is in the paper, yikes!) or they'll want the reward.

Still praying for y'all.

Keep offering a nice reward, and maybe go outside the perimiter a little bit, like the next town over. Money talks, and if someone sees him, they will call.

Tess,
its a shame you don't know what your talking about.
But thats ok,  I don't care one way or the other.
I know why they run off once in a while, and I know why they come home.
They know why I'm pissed and they understand the whole situation.
We are all tempted and we all do things we know will come with a price.
My dogs would tell you the same thing, if they gave a shit.
Yet another reference to children, but what would you do if your child didn't come home after school and decided to go play with his friends instead and didn't bother letting you know or get permission?
Oh well, you raise your dogs your way and I'll raise mine just like I have been all my life.
Moons.

JLB,
Put an ad in the papers.

My dogs are punished anytime they leave my property.
Dogs get shot around here.

Two Moons,

I have a male that liked to "wander" and visit.  Unfortunately, that is not a good idea in an urban area.  The one time he went "missing" (23 hours), he was so VISIBLY relieved and happy to be found, and I was even happier to have found him.  Punishment didn't enter into the picture--that boy was cold (he was outside in November overnight and normally sleeps next to my bed), hungry, wet, and a pack animal alone.   His little "adventure" was punishment enough.    You should have heard the big sigh he let out, when I put him in his crate in the car!!  Yep, boy was HAPPY to be going home!

just a note on punishing or not on return of a dog - I usually would say "no of course, you reward/praise because they came back, or came to you.  IMO this holds true IF you are out calling for him and he comes running to you.  Praise of course, because he came.  But dogs DO understand the "you are a bad dog for leaving/running away" scenario also.  As an example - I foxhunted for years.  The hounds (our hunt used a pack of English Foxhounds - impressive big-boned hounds with strong temperaments) were of course always in a pack situation - they lived together, exercised together, ate together (in a big room with concrete floor with drain in the center - huntsman would pour whole bags of kibble out over the floor, or drag in a cow or horse carcass whole or cut up) and the hounds would be let in en mass to eat until it was all gone.

When you are hunting, the hounds gather around the huntsman and whippers - and off we go.  The hounds stick together very nicely, and are trained not to follow scent of deer or anything other than fox.  However once in a while a young hound will wander away from the pack.  If he does this, he will normally catch up later - and when he does, the rest of the pack will beat the living crap out of that hound the second he returns.  They don't kill him, but he learns a hard lesson.  Stay with the pack, or you will be sorry you left, or sorry you returned LOL - I've seen this many times.  The wanderer rarely does that twice.

I hope you find him drive alot and look /call out the window.
Ask around the area like 5 miles first.
Also keep calling all the pounds too.
If you have a free ad radio station let them hear you on the air.
Post signs around with descrip and or pic.
Also take out a free ad for reward dog, it can only be 20 dollars, just list reward $$$. Meet anyone in local Mc donald parking lot never had a house or private area.
I hope you find your dog, I know the feeling all too well. Once the dog is not in the yard he can be stolen as they act
different when lost.

Thank you, that was very interesting, Molly.

Moon's must be feeling justified.
