Mo regarding health test and the other type some do but the majority dont, of those that do hip score very rarily anything else there are a number that ignore the results and breed regardless of score.

Hello all.

This thread, however one's point of view: has proved beyond any doubt ( and the Ballot which ensued ) that there are enough caring, and passionate enthusiast out there to make a difference.  I also agree with Bill, that perhaps this thread has run it's course.  I also feel that Reason has a point about our so called LEADERS,  their silence is deafening:  perhaps another vote should be taken by those who voted the first time, to ascertain whether a list of people, who in their opinion, could lead us should be compiled, and if positive, take another vote on the leadership, at the least, we will all be singing off the same hymn sheet.

Finally to the people who wish to denigrate each other on this thread, WHY???

             Kind Regards

     Paul Rattigan.

Excellent posts Mo, Wildmoor, your post is a bit more worrying if people are ignoring results. David, apology accepted, no more now, ya hear.lol Mo, i think Whali said he likes straight backed dogs like the working dogs today. So i do not know which way he would vote. But as has been said before i think we should draw a line under this thread before it gets dragged down by nasty posts. liz

may i ask something? if we voted to drop the word Alsatian from our breeds name would that not enrage the Alsatianist's to the point that they would break away themselves, and leave the rest of us in peace.

Mo - you or anyone for that matter are very welcome to hear my thoughts on this matter but only by telephone or face to face as I learnt a couple of years ago that voicing any sort of opinion on this forum was nothing short of disaster.  Nikki

Anything is possible.but what I would say is, it is way beyond time to drop the name Alsatian. It existed on its own in the UK for well over 50 years, then in the early seventies, the Kennel Club agreed to give our breed its proper name, German Shepherd Dog. However it would have caused considerable confusion throughout the Country if they simply left it at that. Many people would have wondered where had the Alsatian gone. So, quite rightly they added the name (Alsatian) in brackets to avoid any confusion. Now after a period of well over 30 years, we can safely say the risk of any confusion is very minimal. Therefore it is time to drop the name (Alsation) from our breeds name here in the United Kingdom, and call it by its correct name, the name it is called around the rest of the World. The GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG. This is now long overdue, and this single act by the Kennel Club would remove this source of controversy from our breed throughout the UK, then we can all concentrate on the very important breed health issues, and several other issues, including our breed survey, that will ensure significant progress and benefits for our breed.

Hi Nikki,
Got your tele message Sunday evening - but am minus the voice at present !   The dreaded lurgy has lasted and lasted, but it doesnt affect my typing !
I hear what you say, and will be pleased to have a chat with you and your thoughts on it will be most interesting to me.  the reason I asked for your opinion on the board is that I was intrigued why we hadnt heard from you, and also many other people were wondering why you hadnt joined the debate....   your opinion is as important as any one elses, so I was just eager to get it to join the thread.  When well known people go absent, people get the wrong ideas, and if that can be avoided by hearing your views, then it would have been good.   Speak very soon    Mo - Mascani.

I keep banging on about it but the split should come throught the formation of a single beed organising registration based on the WUSV system being implemented on a gradual scale over the next ten years with a two teir regidtration system and at the end of year ten all dogs to be top teir registered will have to have all the relevant health tests and titless they will be GSD and the rest will be Alsation
