Due to weather issues, vet will not see him until late Thursday afternoon.

Tommy's left side of his head, toward the back of his jaw is swollen. I assume it is just an abscess from a cat fight?  Let's hope.

While Tommy is the most cuddly of my mouser cats, he turns wicked mean when he is hurt. I have scars from this cat. So no, quite frankly I am not going to get in close enough to get a good look. That will be the vets problem.

First emergency with Tommy cat...

Vet: What do you expect us to do with him? I can't touch him. Is he feral?  He's already bit through my (leather) gloves.

Me: Turn him loose & hope you hit him with the tranquilizer gun?

Vet did not appreciate my sarcasm.

Prayers for Tommy will be greatly appreciated. He is a black, with white, tuxedo cat.  Pray even harder, as I have already pre determined my financial limit for this cat, or he will be put down.

Thank you so very much from me & Tommy cat.

Sounds like an absess to me. Just what many of my cats have had. Bursts in about 5 days smells soooo bad then it heals.

Would not waste a trip to the Vet if he is that bad when hurt.

He can't eat or drink. I too am hoping something will come to head & pop.

Though what if his jaw is broken & I just can't get close enough to see? So I am willing to spend a couple of bucks at the vet for his sake.

He has clear droplets sometimes dripping out his mouth. And sometimes he makes gurgle sounds when he is screaming & slashing at me for my trying to get near him.

Wish me luck getting him in the cage Thursday. I am not even trying to now, as I do not want to have to drive myself to the ER in this weather.

Oh, BTW, I have yet to see his mouth closed since he came home like this. Which is part I am wondering about a broken jaw.

Tommy cat went to the vet today.

To those that prayed for him, THANK YOU so very much.

Yesterday evening his abscess had reduced some of its own accord. This morning he finally ate. And he allowed me to touch him.

I took him to the vet anyway. He is now on liquid antibiotics. Not getting a pill down this cat w/o a fight. He had lost a full 2 pounds. No shocker there.

This evening I found him sleeping & his mouth was actually closed. Though he is still dripping clear drops from his mouth.

Tommy should be just fine. :)

Big kudos to the UPS guy that pulled off a real balancing act, managing to hold the door open for me literally with his pinky finger, while he was piled head high with several of packages.

Glad to hear he's going to be okay, TWC! Great news!

by ThatWasClose on 30 October 2020 - 22:10

Sincerely, thank you both very much.

He has been drinking water like a fish today. :)

He even behaved for the vet yesterday, which was a real shocker to everyone.
