Why does a dog begin to intensely nose search the house and bark after a stranger enter and departs the house. The dog was not present when the stranger enter or leave; and the stranger has left 40 mins before. What kind of drive and behavior is involve here?

Dogs have super keen noses and can follow scent that is days old. So an hour is still very fresh to a dog.
Your dog has found the scent of a stranger and is trying to locate if such person is still on the grounds. Normal territorial behavior for a dog.
You could call this hunt drive.
