I cannot stress to you enough how many times the narrator says the cows are gentle & "dog broke."  In real life with a bunch of unhandled cows it does not anywhere smooth & quiet like this.  Not even for quiet Mr. Goolsby.

"Untrained Black Mouth Cur Pup Holding Rooster at Bay."

This is all genetic in this little pup. No one is telling him what to do. He is "baying" the rooster.  He is supposed to run circles around it, holding it in place, & that is exactly what this little tyke naturally does.   Never grabbing at it. Just making it stay put as best his baby self can. No one is out there saying get that chicken, or giving this pup any guidance, praise or reprimand at all. This pup is trying to work all of his own accord as it has been instinctively/genetically bred into him.

Why do you think they posted the video?  Because they are so darn proud of this little guys innate abilities & predispostion to work all upon his own accord.

Though other day I did manage to embed YT videos. No idea why I was failing to tonight.

I honestly don’t know anything about dogs and cattle.

But I do have a nice childhood memory to share. When I was growing up my grandma always had hens and a rooster in the backyard. In that backyard there were apple trees and also some gooseberries. As the season came in I had to get there to harvest the berries and apples because they’re so delicious. But the rooster was mean as hell. My grandma had a small mutt. He wasn’t trained or anything besides a paw command. I would go to the backyard with a dog and right away the dog would grab the rooster’s wing and take him to the pen. Sometimes it would take a few tries before rooster gave up. I will never forget it and nowadays I miss these kind of dogs.

A good dog is a good dog, no matter the breed or the Heinz 57 mix of it. :)
