For those who showed interest in PSA here is a video I made from our recent mock trial. Shows some of the scenarios but handlers are permitted to also correct and train where needed. Its not a great variety but i tried to label the clips so u can see what level they r from.

Also has some muzzle fighting.

I would love to also show the overloaded defensive dogs who didnt do so good but thats not nice.

Im not the most fit and athletic decoy but I try ;-)

Enjoy.

Hi GSD Fan.

Firstly any sport which includes muzzle work, gets the thumbs up from me.

How do they score the dogs in that faze?

Both dogs did well working the man on the ground, but were less impressive on the initial hit - more low and slow, than high and hard.

You did a great job, thanks for sharing.

Thank you GSDfan

Thanks. The first muzzle dog (there were 3 total) was a leg dog. The last targeted my leg in the muzzle but is normally an upper body dog, I should have made him hit me again since he didnt hit me hard (but did make contact). The exercise is worth a set amout of points. Initial hit and the fight worth a separate amount of points. Ill see if i can get the breakdown.

Nice! That's a lot of detail training...going through tunnel and over hurdle requires a lot of obedience. Im impressed.
You did a great job. I'd love to participate in that sport with my dogs.
What sort of search, comparable to blind search, in PSA ?

Thanks for sharing.

In the level 3 there is either a muzzle fight or an area or building search (depending on what is available). The dog may be sent to guard, bite or be called off before the bite...or if sent to bite, after the out they may have to guard, recall or remote transport the decoy...or any kind of variation ...often with multiple decoys.

That variation - really tests control.

Re points on the muzzle attack, even a rough breakdown, ie approximate percentages for targeting/force//fight would suffice.

Great stuff.

I really like that

I like the sport - the control work, the mash up of exercises, and the elements of different disciplines all in one competition. Being able to direct your dog and control are very important, as evidenced in the video. Curious that only Mals and a Dutchie are on the vid, are there other breeds at the club?

Mals and dutchies dominate the sport. I compete with GSD's (my last 3 GSD's i titled in IPO and PSA) and they come in 3rd by numbers. Also seen a fair number of bully breeds, a rare dobe here and there.
