Well technically this is her second but the first time I only let her punch the decoy and held her back not letting her engage on the ground yet. This was the first session for letting her engage on the ground. I kept it brief and pulled her back to keep her wanting more. Just doing short confidence building sessions for now as she learns she can still hurt him with the muzzle on.

I have a bad habit of constant praise, I know sorry.

Great video lesson in starting muzzle work - nice job!

For anyone wanting to learn how the muzzle basics are taught, this is a wonderful example, and totally corroborates what is written in that muzzle article by Brian Amm.

GSD - so far as the "constant praise", I would say that it is not distracting the dog, so no harm, no foul. The dog knows that you are there with her and her actions please you. Unless she gets distracted by the praise, then no need to change, IMO.

I would like to add that people watch what the decoy does before the hit, how he presents the target to the dog. Watch how decoy reacts to the dog's hit, and how he engages the dog in ground fighting. Then, how the decoy rolls away from the dog after the handler has control, before he gets up and runs away. Also notice how the handler allows the dog to "chase" the decoy out of the area. All of these elements are done text-book, and the dog makes the proper associations with the muzzle scenario.

I know absolutely nothing about this type of training and even with an untrained eye I can see night and day differences between this video and the other one. Excellent keep these type of posts coming. Great job. Would love to get a member to make a series of these taking the dog through all phases of training and then make a tutorial out of them and add to the tutorials section. If any member would be game to do something like this please contact me through PMs.

OMG my video was not training my video was test. If you truly and admittedly do not know what you are looking at and admitently "know absolutely nothing" about this type of training so best is if you say nothing.

It is better to be silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.

Also I remember that the thread was closed with warning not to bring this up again.
Here I quote Mrdarcy.:
Warning to all...Please do not start another thread on this topic, it's done!!!

Hans, you are the one originally claiming this was training, not me, who is the fool? Then after you took flak you all of a sudden changed it to a test. Again, who is the fool????? Your words Hans, not other members words, who is the fool??!!

Hans said in his first post on the master trainer thread - " It is easy to see unedited video of training in progress like this one and make fun of it and use it to degrade the trainer which here is done by people who can not stand on their own merit and thus to make them selves feel better they must degrade and make fun of others ACTUALLY working with their dogs. "

These are your words and your words alone again who is lying and who is the fool? You are right I don't know what I am talking about but it doesn't take a master trainer to see the differences - I do not claim to be even a novice trainer but you claim to be at least a skilled trainer. Who is the fool??????? Besides plenty of members here are expert in training and they question it and you dismissed them right from the get go this makes the whole point of this video really hit home to many of us.

Great video GSDfan... I agree about the comments on the decoy work and the handler as well. Both were very nice. I really like the female in the video as well, she is a very nice dog.
Thanks for posting the video.

P.S. - On a side note, it didnt take long for this thread to go OFF COURSE quickly... just sayin'..
