Any one used Bravecto or Nexgard before and with what results?

Im intending to use either of them, along with Senteniel Spectrum ( I have been using the latter for almost 2 yrs with no obvious side effects on the dog )
Thanks in advanced for your opinions.

I've been using Nexgard for a couple of years. It appears to be effective and we've experienced no side effects.

Bravecto is not proven safe and is another geewizz marketing driven product meant to maximize profits for veterinarians and Merck. The three month dosing schedule for Bravecto is profit driven and the safety profile of the product does not look good and was established in lab strain beagle hounds not a variety of dogs of different ages, breeds, and sexes. Like all of these products the selectivity and safety of these nerve poisons is likely decreased in sicker, older, and herding breeds. A large part of the safety of all of these type products is dependent on your dog having a healthy and active blood brain barrier to keep these nerve poisons from reaching your dog's brain and nervous system. As your dog ages these products can slowly eat away at your dog's health and lead to other health issues which may seem unrelated. I would only treat for ticks when they are present and not subject my dog to year round poisoning in the false name of prevention. Apparently the marketing scum would like to convince dog owners that their dogs need year round poisoning for fleas, ticks and heart worms. These and many other profit driven products for our dogs are sold as 24/7 365 preventatives when in fact they are 24/7 365 poisons.  The molecules used for the active ingredient in NexGaard and Bravecto are essentially the same .. see below.

Link to adverse effects and safety statements .. neither of these products are proven safe in long term use or for older, diseased, sick, or all breeds of dogs.

2014 news article with 900 plus deaths reported by then .. the companies can always deny any deaths .. seizures, deaths.  Not safe for all dogs .. period.  The company will not define which dogs are at risk so you are on your own.  The veterinarians sell it and make a large profit so they are not going to get their hands dirty if the company denies responsibility.  Delay, deny and hope they die .. the easiest way to settle dog poisoning complaints.

All of these chloride channel blockers work the same way and if they get to your dogs brain or nervous system they will be made sick and recover to some extent ( long term effects are unknown ) or die.  The blood brain barrier is the primary way in which these type products exhibit safety in dogs and if the blood brain barrier is compromised due to genetics ( some herding breeds and mixes ) or disease then the dog will be adversely affected.

Thank you for the links Bubba. What do you, personally, think may be the best heart worm preventive for dogs, especially herding breeds?
