I posted here several days ago. I'm in Minneapolis and it has been hot and humid. About 5 days ago on Wednesday one of my three shepherds a female about two years old about to go into season lost her appetite but regular energy for eveything else. I went to the vet on Friday to be safe. They perfermed an X-ray for internal blockage, everything checked out fine. Adviced to start her on Pepto-Bismol to see if she just had upset stomach. Symptoms: She has only eaten twice since wednesday, Eating ton of grass, vomiting only clear bile and grass. Energy levels all high. she is not dehydrated Any ideas would be much appreciated.

i'm about 2 hours south of you and enjoying (yuk) the same weather conditions. since you've already been to the vet and everything seems okay, the best you can do is keep them cool in the shade, with fans or air conditioning. provide plenty of clean, cool water. keep it fresh and keep the dishes clean. don't feed during the heat of the day. wait till it is cooler in the evening. also make sure they are protected against biting flies and mosquitoes. i think we're in for a long, hot, miserable summer. do all you can to keep your pals comfortable. mine spend alot of time in the a/c during the worst months.

Hey Doom...I also Live in Minneapolis. one of my males went through same thing a few days ago. Also blood in stool. Vet check ok... (white pills for tummy)no food only grass for several days. I have been taking the pack swimming (river) in the early AM for an hour. They stay indoors at 70 during peak heat and all is fine now. Lack of appetite with females before season is not uncommon. I'm sure you have seen the other symptoms. Heading north 200 miles in 2 days to get away from this humidity. 90s all week with high dew point and rain. I wonder why I live here sometimes. Left the Bay area to get away from the masses.
