If a breeder sells his/her pupps with limited registration and then dies, disappears, etc... what recourse do the buyers have to get the limited registration lifted? Im sure this has happened and want to know what other breeders do to protect there clients in case of death, illness, etc which prevents the client from getting the limited registration lifted.

Is this an AKC registration?...And if so I would call AKC and ask them what can or cannot be done...If you need more info or a direct line for a forgein registered dog let me know...Bob...BleuHaus@msn.com

Not for any dog just a "curiosity killed the cat" question.

I bought a dog from an estate once...well the guy died during the transaction...the person with power of attorney was aloud to sign everything and AKC accepted it with no problems. Heather

I had this happen to me twice. First time the lady decided after we put a lot of training and OFA'd the bitch that "she felt there were too many dogs in the world" and refused to "lift" the limited registration. 2nd time we put forth a lot of work, training and OFA in a male and the guy that we purchased the pup at the time 2 years old. "Died in a motorcycle accident" AKC said we had no recourse because the breeder had left no one in charge. Lessoned learned...I NEVER buy a dog with "limited registration." I never want to worry again if I would get the dog fully registered. I think this limited registration has its place but for dogs that are truly not breeding quality and I think it's sometimes used by with breeders selfish reasons. But, this is my personal experienc and opinion only. Birdy...
