I think my bitch is indeed pregnant.

For those experienced, which view is more reveally of pregnancy first, top view or side view.

I think I am seeing a slight swelling on the middle ribs. Am I imagining? The uterus is below the diagraghm so swelling should be observable in the downward direction first, one would think.  How come I am seeing slight swelling that push the middle ribs out just a tiny bit? Am I just imagining?

Day of LH surge was Oct 4. Date of ovulation was Oct 6, mated Oct 8 and 10.

Today is Nov 10.

Also, if one can see slight swelling on day 36 after LH surge, does it mean that the litter size is average or above average?

Well, she was in heat, had progesterone testing, was bred and now is 1 month in whelp.  You'd notice very little abdominal swelling.  Where one would see this varies dog to dog and even pregnancy to pregnancy.  Relax.  Puppies are likely coming.

A lateral view is much better but you probably would not have calcification of the puppies bones at this time.

You can usually see heartbeats in an ultra-sound by 5 weeks.

The first visual sign's I see are when the dog is laying down on her side.   It's easy to feel the difference with your hand.

My choice , side view....:)

if you want to know she is pregnant early you can use the Witness Relaxin Test

Product Description
Rapid immunomigration test for detection of the hormone relaxin in canine blood. Can be used at 22 days gestation or after. A small blood sample must be obtained from the dog. 5 tests in each kit. * Early detection of planned or unplanned pregnancy. * Detection of pregnancy before or after abortion treatment. * Early detection of false pregnancy. * Diagnose fetal resorption or spontaneous abortion. * No refrigeration required. About the product: The Witness Relaxin kit is intended to determine pregnancy in the bitch, as well as to distinguish between pseudopregancy and gestation. The kit measures relaxin levels in plasma and serum samples. The presence of significant amounts of this hormone is a reliable indicator of pregancy. Relaxin can be detected in biological samples soon after implantation of the fertilized egg, which occurs about 22-27 days after mating (26-31 days post-LH surge).

Its only a side view in an X ray that will show pups and that cannot be earlier from what I've been told than 45 days?   By that time you'll know she is pregnant and then you can count how many.  If you are a new breeder you should do both but do not trust your eyes or your vets eyes as I seem to have a better eye for it than the vets.   Take a digital image of the X ray and post it  here so experienced breeders can help you count.

Here a pic of the Witness Relaxin Test.   I use them every time and they are 100%
