What is the min age requirement for a puppy being imported form Germany to the U.S.???? One breeder told be 4 months old. And I am in the process of buying a puppy that is in Germany. The breeder says she will ship it at 8 weeks. Whats is the truth here? WHO is lying to me. Im now nervous.

Contact Gradlyn kennels, they do the bulk of shipping and can give you facts. http://www.gkairfreight-gradlyn.de/inhalt1.html

I have imported puppies @ 8 weeks old.

Very interesting. Im baffled. Here is anexcerpt from the email i received from this person - "I can look for something Germany as I am there regularly and dogs every month, but would have to see. Your looking at $2000 mim for a good DDR pup( 4m old legal import age, I will not violate the rules for younger), and $4000 and up at least for a good DDR female( young) without a title and survey,"

Hucklebuck, I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination, but those prices seem a little high to me. $2000 mim for a pup I would say that is the max. And I know people that have imported from Germany at 8 weeks. I've never heard of anyone waiting 4 months. Who are you purchasing your pup from?

by Partyman1 on 23 August 2004 - 20:08

8 weeks is the minimum with health certificate for flying to the U.S. I have imported MANY from Germany at this age. Be sure to check the restrictions on temperature in your area, it may be too hot to fly the pup, or you may need to get a flight that comes in late evening. * Just my 2 cents, but if he is not being upfront about shipping, be careful with everything else.

Huckleberry Price seems steep... but the min age is 8 weeks... and like partyman1 said HEAT is a BIG thing do be careful. Also according to what you have said, he seems a little fishy, we've been burnt and we too are lookin for a good female across seas however we no longer import unless it is from 2 of our friends across seas or unless we fly over directly. Normally a dog can't make it out of the country if it is that good!!! So for a pup with no training... don't let them shaft you! :-) Just my thoughts :-) good luck I hope the best for u! Vereinigte

Hucklebuck, I'd have agree with Vereinigte, price does seem steep. Most pups from NAME Kennels in Germany from Show lines, (I can't comment on DDR working lines) are priced at about $800.00 Eur. plus shipping regardless of gender. Hope this helps.

I agree. $2,000 min for a DDR pup? I LOVE DDR dogs and know better. I am in Maine, so heat isnt an issue. Im just curious why he would tell me 4 months? Doesnt make sense. I was just inquirung with the guy. I have another litter my eye is on with someone else. This guy does seem a bit fishy. email me for the kennel name. dnkmike@adelphia.net
