The Weekly Standard is an American neoconservative[2][3][4][5] opinion magazine[6] published 48 times per year. Its founding publisher, News Corporation, debuted the title September 18, 1995. Currently edited by founder William Kristol and Fred Barnes, the Standard has been described as a "redoubt of neoconservatism" and as "the neo-con bible".[7][8] Since it was founded in 1995, the Weekly Standard has never been profitable, and has remained in business through subsidies from wealthy conservative benefactors such as former owner Rupert Murdoch.[9] Many of the magazine's articles are written by members of conservative think tanks located in Washington, D.C.: the American Enterprise Institute, the Ethics and Public Policy Center, the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, and the Hudson Institute. Some individuals that have written for the magazine include Elliott Abrams, Peter Berkowitz, John R. Bolton, Ellen Bork, Ed Gillespie, Roger Kimball, Harvey Mansfield, Joe Queenan, Wesley J. Smith, David Brooks and John Yoo. The magazine's website blog, titled the "Daily Standard", is edited by John McCormack and Daniel Halper and produces daily articles and commentary.

That's an opinion piece not subject to fact checking. I'm not going to spend my time listening to that entire speech, but if there is anything there that alludes to facts copy it here and I'll be more than happy to fact check it for you

You seem to be saying that Obama has released his full college transcripts?  You have seen them?

Is that correct?

by Blitzen on 17 August 2012 - 03:08

You seem to not be reading the links I post. Is that correct?

Did I miss Obama's college transcripts you posted?

So college transcripts from 25 years ago are as vital to a campaign as income tax records from the last 5 years that could show a felony offense by a candidate for President if he did not report his Swiss bank accounts prior to amnesty in 2009? How so? Why didn't Dubya produce his college transcripts? I didn't hear any of the far-righties complaining about that, did I? Just another smoke screen to try to hide the fact that Romney has refused muliptle requests by his own party members to release more of his income tax returns. WHAT'S HE HIDING? The only other candidate for Pres who refused to release ANY of his was Nixon and we all know where that went.

I'll keep watching for those tax records because I am a lot more concerned about a candidate who is backed by the super wealthy Koch brothers, who is a member of a party that is doing its best to surpress voting by minorities in swing states,  yes, a guy who strapped his dog on the roof of his car driving over 1,000 miles, and let his dog roam the neighborhood getting picked up by animal control multiple times. Couldn't he afford a fence? What sort of person does things like that; what does that say about his character? To add insult to injury, he is backed up by a man who wants to turn medicare into a voutcher program and who thinks SS is a ponzi scheme (or has he changed his stand about that too?) Those things concern me a lot more than if Obama smoked a joint while in college.

Keep looking for the tax records.  They are certainly out there and if I trust the DNC to do anything, it would be to find fault with Romney's returns if there was anything to find.  You know that Gov. Romney has been running for some political office or another since before 2002, for which he was required to release tax returns, especially while he was Governor of Massachusetts.  In other words he has been releasing his tax records ad nauseum for about 10 years.  But it makes better press to make it sound like he might be hiding something because he doesn't think he should have to release them all over again.

It's time to move on to more important issues, like making jokes of members names?

by Blitzen on 17 August 2012 - 13:08

He ran for Gov in 2001 so any tax records required then are now  over 11  years old. I think the Dems and some Reps too are aware of those records, but are more interested in what has transpired since then. If he didn't do anything illegal,  it's hard to believe that Romney would miss a golden opportunity to make the Dems look petty and stupid by releasing his income tax records and proving he is being wrongfully accused.

BTW Rat Pack King was the screen name used by one of the members here who we haven't heard from for a long time. I was not making fun of anyone's name. Just asking if it was the same person with a different but similar screen name.
