Neither do I, matter of fact you have it all wrong. Paul is the one who wants to go back 200 years. Ron Paul in earlier writings was a racist. I don't trust a man who wants to take us back 200 years.

GSDNewbie: Okay, he clearly has a specialty interest. Has he finished any core college classes that are usually prerequisites to a special major? Assoc. Degree, maybe? You are talking about him earning some type of Bachelor's Degree, is my, uh, assumption? Or I'll just nevermind....
I'm not trying to sound like a Financial Aid Officer but I'd need a thorough interview of your son, the school, etc, to get to the bottom of his particular situation. Still, IMO, I would say it is possible he is not a typical example, and therefore does not promote your position on the availability of federal student loans for most students who need them.

Then why would the other five require their parents divorce papers to stay in school? All of them were upstanding student in the honor's program. Can you show me that Obama has NOt changed school funding except for making it easier for student aid for families in poverty level and or durg/ acohol abuse homes? One of my sons friends in honors kept their funding after Obama took office because her mom is an adict. The others all had issues. I spoke with three of the sets of parents at the beginning of sons schooling there and again after they all filed divorce for their children to remain in school. As single parent they qualified where they could not if they stayed married.

I also know 2 other students who are getting student loans.

I can't know anything for sure, but I can make up a good enough reason. Maybe there were specific grants that were only available to single parent families and some idiot thought to tell parents to divorce, thinking it would be a good loophole to exploit.
Of course, that is why I'd have to do a thorough interview. There can be many opportunities and reasons for eligibility, for each one it can be different. All this information and type of help should be easily availble in a viable Financial Aid Office at the school. That you are not getting this type of advice would worry me to look more closely into it or elsewhere.

Thank you Beetree for your infomative and reasonable replies discussing these issues like an adult with communication skills :)
The issue is how much my husband makes. All of us that were having issues were borderline not making enough to foot the bill in whole but not less enough that the goverment loans are a help to us. Does this make better sense to you now? My theory is all these other student with no problem have two income homes or make much less and qualify easier. It is individual circumstances but all those that are in our boat of not poor enough but also not rich enough find the river of who gets including into this catagory is getting wider.
