I, too, have had problems which I am fairly sure are due to the spell checker. The cursor will jump to the end of a word when I am trying to correct a spelling mistake in the middle of the word. The only way around that is to delete the letters that come after the mistake.
I haven't had a problem with text disappearing, and I didn't mention the spelling error problem before because it's just a minor annoyance. But still, I think it could be more serious with other browsers. There's definitely some incompatibility there.

Try to disable it and see what happens because I can have Oli shut it off if it proves to be the problem.

If you're not sure what version IE you are running;
From the menu bar click on help,
Then click on about Internet Explorer, it tells you what version you have.

OK I am typing this in 'simple form', my dashboard no longer allows me to do
anything else at all (so no Smilies). The spellchecker is still on, as in 'simple'
there is no button to turn it off.
I assume therein lies the answer to my earlier question about simple versus
advanced, lol.
I have never had a problem in the past with the spellchecker being left on;
although I don't find it particularly useful for a few reasons (but that's just me).

Running Windows 7 and Firefox, and I have never had a single issue such as the ones being described.

I've disabled spell check. Will let you know if it works. I won't be signed on much the next 2, 3 weeks so I might not know for a while.
