Ridiculous that this is being contemplated as a humanitarian cause given the 5,000 deaths per month in Sudan due to genocide that continues. I also am left to wonder how the Obama/Putin pissing contest plays into this.

As I write, the Royal Navy is on the move.

I don't see this pissing contest.
Obama pisses sitting down so he loses by default.

Genocide is not one of our nations concerns..............Lee Hamilton told me this years ago.

We should not get into another war of lies, which Iraq certainly was.

None of these countries would come to our aid even if they could.

So watch and learn, we could be next.

Whether or not we can win, or have anything to gain by it, we are currently engaged in some heated rhetoric with Russia right now, with the latest shot across the bow having been fired by Obama, when he cancelled a recently scheduled visit to Moscow in response to Putin's lack of cooperation on the Snowden incident. Though I agree with you in fact,  I wouldn't necessarily base the decision on whether or not to come to the aid of a foreign people on their willingness to come to my own.  We should have learned through plenty of experience however, that almost invariably, it comes back to bite us in the ***, with that nation and Islamic world in general looking upon us with contempt for interfering in their stick fights.  The reality here is a regional issue, with Iran being the 800lb gorilla in the room.  It's a foregone conclusion that action is on the horizon, with Syria being the first part of the equation.  Russia's point of entry to the region is Syria, which also contains their only Naval base with access to the Mediterranean; not to mention the billions in military contracts with Assad.  Same old story, and it makes me wonder why we can't just call a spade a spade.  Everyone knows the game, save for those of the American public who buy into the whole freedom, democracy, and humanitarian spin.

Obama cancelling talks was childish and worst, poor judgement on his part regardless on Snowden.
The sooner we get his ass out of the office the better.

The closing of embassies was mostly bullshit, all show.....PR.
Then we go in with drones....... convenient business as usual.

The gas issue must be resolved before any action is taken and the whole world needs to participate in that action.
Gassing is a method of killing mass populations of people, leaving infrastucture in tact, if the world condones such practices it's all over.

As for interfering, we're not the only ones who do it, but they (other countries) are simply slicker at it than this administration.
Yeah we are as a nation hated for our interfering, never stopped us before.

It's never about the people.
