If it is your point that decriminalizing marijuana is your biggest problem with a raid gone wrong, that certainly isn't the fault of a police officer. Change the laws, then, but if a cops job is to uphold the law, you can't blame him for doing just that.

And I'm not telling the story, because it is Jim's story. I'll just be happy letting you know when you are wrong about everything and anything.

Except it will have to wait... I'm going to be busy for the next couple of hours... but I'll be happy to oblige when I get back!

Bee,
the problem is we are living in a police state and it's getting worst by the day.
The police are improperly trained and many of them have problems that should have disqualified them from service.

I'm not picking on the individual here, it's what's become of our system.

Our courts are also FUBAR, there is no justice anywhere.

Hell corrupt cops have always been there, not all but enough.

I'm back for fun! Hey Moons, control? Control of what? What could I possible control here? That is a very funny thought.

So how about some solutions? All I hear is what is wrong! Don't any of you critics have a good idea to fix this? Or is it just so much easier to call the shots from your living room chair?

I pretty much get the feeling you could care less about any one who is a stranger.  Don't you think it takes a certain noble character to protect strangers for no reason, except that it is the right thing to do?

How many decent cops do this every day with no thanks from any of you!

"Nice try Keith, the wannabe!"

This has been sort of niggling at me this afternoon so I'll address it.

Had I wanted to be, I easily could have been.  There is no shortage of law enforcement opportunities for honorably discharged veterans, especially when those veterans were members of the Military Police Corps or their respective brach's equivalent during their service.  I chose not to pursue law enforcement as a career primarily because of the attitude of so many of my fellow soldiers, for many of whom the Army provided a stepping stone to their local police forces, toward those people they purported to serve.  It turned out to be a good decision since I've earned several times in my current capacity what I ever could have earned putting up with that bullshit.

My older brother took a different approach.  He made a career of the military in law enforcement, went to school and worked his way up through the ranks until he ultimately ended up as the CID (Criminal Investigations Division) chief at Ft. Hood, the largest U.S. Military installation in the world.  During his service, he was in theater in many times, including several deployments to both Iraq and Afghanistan.  He was a body guard for Secretaries of State Weinberger and Carlucci as well as several chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.  After his retirement from the Army, he became a federal investigator who returned to Iraq in that capacity.  He is still currently a Fed...for whom he works and what he currently does isn't important.

Having chosen not to pursue a career in law enforcement, there's a lot that I don't know.  I do, however, have a sounding board against which I can bounce my opinions and get a reality check from someone with almost four decades in that capacity.  We discuss these cases...he's seen more shit in his life than most are ever likely to.  If he tells me it smells like shit, I'm inclined to believe it does.

Feel free to continue to believe whatever makes you happy.

"How many decent cops do this every day with no thanks from any of you!"

Most of them.  Does that mean those who break the law to "enforce" the law should get a free pass?

Bee,
you started this rant, i'm not gonna explain the control remark to you.

Solutions?
To what, bad cops, bad management.

It's all in the training, and standards.
Usually on the state level things seem more professional, more so than local city and county.

I can't fix your ranting tho.

Moons.

by beetree on 20 February 2013 - 00:02

Moons, LOL, who asked you to fix my "ranting"?  I am proud of my RANTING! I will rant when a rant needs ranting!

You can't explain your "control" remark, because it is just a nice bunch of words strung together. I know! Means absolutely, squat.

Keith, I have to eat dinner and give your post some proper consideration due to its length. .. I will get to it, soon, soon, soon!
