States with the most guns per capita have the most gun deaths .. fact. Suicide is the leading cause of gun death in the USA. Louisiana is one of only four states in the country where homicides accounted for a larger share of firearm deaths than suicides. In 2013, Louisiana reported nearly 10 homicides per 100,000 residents, the highest rate in the country.

Guns are expected to surpass car crashes for the number of American deaths caused in 2015. In 2013, there were 33,636 Americans killed by guns versus 33, 782 fatal crashes.
Interestingly some of the states such as Alaska have high gun related death rates but 80% are suicides and most with hand guns. Hunting is not an excuse to own, wear or concealed carry a hand gun yet the gun fanatics jump to hunting as the reason why guns must be legal to carry in public while long guns make up a small percentage of gun deaths. Maybe open carry of long guns and strict control of hand gun ownership would solve the problem for gun fanatics .. they can take their AK47 to the office with them and gun toting NRA members can open carry their deer rifle if they want to. Of course the public would tire quickly of open carry long guns and if everyone knew who among us is carrying a weapon legally on their person these people would face public questioning of their purpose in carrying a weapon at WalMart.

2A has absolutely nothing to do with hunting. Those that use hunting to defend 2A are clearly idiots.
Just saying.

So suicides being so high with a lot of those people using guns to take their lives but let a person want to take their own life with the help of a Dr and those same damn religious, conservative, gun owners are up in arms.(lol) See any hypocracy in that little scenario?

Misleading : Guns are expected to surpass car crashes for the number of American deaths caused in 2015. In 2013, there were 33,636 Americans killed by guns versus 33,782 fatal crashes"
Whats failed to mention in your data and its on purpose to trick for shock value is those numbers include suicides as GSD alludes to. 20k plus where killed by themselves using a gun. The crime and homicides numbers will be flat again 2015, perhaps a small uptick or small decline. Ho hum, sorry.
There over 8 million fanatics legally carrying concealed weapons in the US. 10's of millions more opened carried today, Boo. Lets take a guess 20 million armed fanatics on the street today. Wicked conservative number. 20 Million.
Comprehend that number.... Its greater then the population of most every single state in the union, except California and Texas.
Just like most everyday. It was a boring non violent day for the fanatics. 20 Plus Million armed family members, friends, co workers, uncles, aunts, grandparents, sisters, daughters, sons and brothers of Boo and everyone else...................... and if you worked all night for a week................ you probably could not come up with 3 fanatical instance.

Hmm, I still group suicides in with gun violence, you are not doing a good job changing my mind and as a matter of fact your numbers are actually hardening my stance. How did 20K plus semi-mentally ill folks get legal guns to commit suicide? Because you would have to be somewhat mentally ill to kill yourself in such a violent way.

Its illogical not to also then ban rope, high buildings, knifes, drugs ,vehicles and the myriad of things that one can use. If you remove all guns on the sole basis that it could or is being used.... then by the same formula everything else must go as well, remove one and the other uses will rise, as you can not stop suicide by regulation.

by Gigante on 07 December 2015 - 16:12
Additionally I don't think you can just say mentally ill when it comes to suicide I think its much much more complicated. When you just lump everything there it creates a greater problem. Many most of the people that lose it and use guns or weapons are medicated for mental illness thats a huge mistake.

Easier to drive one's car into a viaduct at ninety mph than to try to make a living in this micromanaged society.
And what did the prez say yesterday....don't let SB turn citizens against each other, but out the other side of his mouth he says 'see sumpthin... send sumpthin.' And we're being told by the USAG to 'stay vigilant and if you notice a change in your neighbor, Report it to the police.'
Good buy USA and hello Nazi Germany.

Funny how a thread on mass murder has now turned into a thread on suicide. And any other deflection one can think of. We aren't talking about ropes, tall buildings or knives but if you guys can't find a way to tighten gun controls it leaves people like me no hope. More will die from gun violence, more lives will be tragically destroyed, families left with just death and on and on.
So, countries who have tight gun control are now nazi Germany, wow, you just slammed a lot of people. Always a deflection to turn peoples minds away from the real issues.
Nazi Germany, lmfao.
