i think a lot of the organic and GMO hysteria has just become another scam as well.
i will bet when this all goes wrong science will be blamed.

VK4,
we're doing it to ourselves.
This is nature's own device, man is enabling it.

moons i doubt all, our leaders would have survived nuc. holocaust in 5 star comfort indefinitely underground - i am sure they have a counter plan for this that you have already funded.

carlin i would like to get this growth stuff in economic terms, i think that is what it all comes back to from so many angles.

Well VK4,
why don't you take the time to watch the full episode and see if you think this compares to any possible (man made) disaster.
You could live in a bubble, or not.... get real.

think you would still have a hard time divorcing the situation altho they are natural from broader social/economic imperatives that made the situation possible in the first place, but i will watch it.

Agreed.

Watched the program. So many challenges. It's clear where the problem has come from, and why we are now struggling to keep up with it. Pharmaceutical companies discovered antibiotics was a losing proposition, so they discontinued research (to a large extent) dating back to the late 20th century. For a while, new drugs that had been in the pipeline and already funded continued to be introduced to treat new strains of mutated bacteria. Now, the lapse has caught up with us. Given the data, we are in for a bit of a rough ride to say the least, even if we put forth a concerted effort beginning today. Unfortunately, as was emphasized in the video, the capitalist model precludes significant investment in drugs with isolated applications, to be prescribed ultra judiciously. Immediately then, the thought is that the threat to public health warrants a governmental response. Unfortunately, by both nature and definition, government is ill-equipped and unequal to the task, historically inefficient when it comes to tackling private sector enterprises. The prognosis is not good.
