Two Moons

There is no way to take a bite without bleeding, to freeze means not to run, but not become rigid.
I trust my dog, but only as far as I can throw him...lol
Your right anything can happen.

Not to get all canine here, I was more interested in what VK4 and his buddies were up too.

Yeah that was a one in a million, stars aligned perfectly, etc. circumstance when I got bit.  Normally they do get my boot up their a**es Carlin, that time I was a little stunned and they took my hesitation as good time to beat feet into their crates (rule of the house was "crate is safe zone, no one was allowed to bother them in their crates").  I remember my son coming down the stairs as I was yelling at my dogs that they were dead meat (yup I was pissed).  He said "gee mom, you think you're over react- OH S**T, your arm!!!".  He drove me to the hospital and was great.  He had his thumb partially severed later that year (bad year for dumb human vs dog injuries) when he went to grab one of our dogs while looking at the other off leash dog that was running toward them.  Our dog started barking like mad and somehow my son miscalculated and got his thumb bit.  He walks in the house going "Yes mom, this time I can't go back out and play" (in reference to my standard "if your not bleeding to death, unconscious, or missing body parts, your fine, go out and play - the joys of both parents being Firefighter/medics).  His flexor tendon in his thumb was severed and we ended up at a great hand surgeon who reattached it and placed a rod in his thumb to hold it straight (he lost the wrinkles in the skin around his thumb joint and had to loosen the skin up to be able to bend it when the rod was taken out).

Moons - Oh, and yeah I'm curious too, why would anyone want to shut down a dog as part of training unless it was for ego's benefit?

Really vk4gsd, truck tires? Hmmmm says a bit about you.

I've got some sissy ass dogs..  They've never tried to get at anything so bad that I've got mistakenly bit.. But then again, they'd probably let me get murdered, as long as it didn't interrupt their nap time.. Doh!!

by vk4gsd on 27 September 2013 - 21:09

erin, at least you would  have to throw my dogs a fresh steak before you murdered me in front of them, kong for the loyal shepherd tho.

moons i thought i covered yr question, i guess not, here goes - yes you were right trying to mess up my dog means they would try make dog pop off the bite or clear out completely or cringe behind the handler. as simple as that, nothing major. and mindhunt yes it would be nothing more than an ego thing.

clears that up??

And these are supposed to be trainers, helpers, or just other dog owners?

by beetree on 27 September 2013 - 21:09

and mindhunt yes it would be nothing more than an ego thing.

Well, I don't believe that at all. vk4, your comment went beyond the pale for being polite in mixed company. I am humbled for sure, that one can not toss about too lightly, the topic of brain injury, so I too tread carefully and hope you will just make a personal note: such crudeness makes us ladies uncomfortable in your presence. If that matters to you, will you please try to refrain from such demeaning objectification of women in the future? Thanks, and I say this in hopes we understand the gift of this forum is for the enjoyment of all.

call em what you want, i have my own names for them. in fact i started out as more of a newb paying these guys for the pleasure, i did not know so much about how fuct the dog world is in heneral and the ppd world in particular. as i said, mess yr dog up and offer you a puppy that will be a manstopper in a litter they just happen to have. i heard this same trick/pattern from people all around the world. another thing is mess with yr dog and show (or cause) some faults and them offer a whole series of paid training sessions to make it better. and again some are just jealous guys that sell pups and want evry other dog/line discredited so they can spread talk about how whatever kennel or stud is producing weak dogs.

so yeah, i was a trusting newb in a culture of notoriously unethical money grubbers - such is the road to knowledge. i know how to discern trainers better now and i certainly know how to deal with the morons if i feel to.

mindhunt, you gotta be kidding, do you even know what YOU wrote, that right there bought the bar right down in terms of polite conversation. do you suffer from autism or tunnel vision, trying to put what you started back on me. have you even made a single comment on what the thread was about, look how yu entered the thread, not buying yr cut- up-ness. if you want to rattle peoples cages then....

Two Moons

So we'll go with trainers I guess......possibly breeders, mostly idiots.
We'll have to take up the methods in another forum sometime.

You need a license for a Baton....lol
I asked you if you needed one for any other device.

by beetree on 27 September 2013 - 21:09

Hmmm....... while I was not requiring a conversation that made sense, I find it usually helps in the long run.
