I know am going to regret this. But, they came down from just over $1K for 5 computers (what is on my network, just so happens, besides that, I said it was never going to happen...) to $305 for the two PC's only. Includes 1 year complete satisfaction to solve and fix any problems, any where, any time. Just what I wanted to hear, I guess? I had done a search for anti-keyloggers after reading some of the stuff from Lennard's GIZMO link. Can I now blame this all on Lennard?
My DH was complaining the machine was slow, etc., that too.
I was on the phone with them, they kept passing me to "higher ups", so helpful. After a while I had suffered so long on the phone, my ear was hot and bothered, because being deaf in one ear, I can't switch. I just wanted stuff to be OK and fixed. When I first ran the PC cleaner there were thousands of bad things, can't remember exactly, doesn't matter. They were so nice, said I could hang up and watch, and they called back at the very end. Gave me a satisfaction survey, too.
For some reason I protected the Mac's. Hope you are having your good natured laugh. I'm laughing and crying. It could be worse. Better me than someone else, I suppose.
I figure it is an expensive cleaning. If you recall, it was a minimum $99 per hour just for someone to look at my old Mac, and that is Westport $ pricing. So, two PC's cleaned are about $150.00 each, but includes the full year of "service". The flat Mac rate, well, when you leave the store, you just leave without your money.

So glad my son is in his senior year in college and is getting a degree in computer science with an emphasis on network security! Saves me so much money! Sorry for your troubles bee.

Thanks gg...I think I'm in good shape now. LOL The weird thing is, now I actually know what the damn codes mean, not all of them, but enough!
Lennard, I checked out all your links. What a maroon. (me)
.
I have passwords changed, check.
I have firewalls, check.
I have maleware protection, check.
Everything is pretty squeeky clean, all machines, are running fast and lean.
Tomorrow I will call the credit card company, I've got a good track record dealing with them, believe it or not.
I could now probably clean someone elses PC. That's what's suddenly surprising. Thanks Lennard for making me work so hard for my answers, I will now never forget them.
Lesson on paranoia also learned: Never open and download a file from a stranger email, or a stranger site. That is the only way you can get a key logger installed without your knowledge.
(If I still have this lesson wrong, please feel free to correct me.)

Bee,
I think most of the windows operating systems have system restore.
Where you restore your operating system to a date prior to your problem. I had a similar problem about 6 months ago and system restore cleared up everything.

Bee, you thought you had computer problems, but at least you didn't have the flame virus that is in the middle east: http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-501465_162-57443071-501465/flame-computer-virus-strikes-middle-east-israel-speculation-continues/ .

Beetree,
You are dead on, you can't get a keylogger without downloading something. Win7 pretty much stops it and asks are you sure you want to install this and then asks for admin privileges to do the install.
Now if you bought malwarebytes and zone alarm set them to do a security scan everyday. You do this in scheduled scans and you should be able to keep it clean. Well unless someone with admin tells it, it is okay to install something.
BTW, see I didn't laugh at you. What you paid is pretty standard for that service, a lot of companies charge 149.00 per machine.
Ninja,
The only bad thing with a system restore is if you installed anything in between the restore day and the day restored those things would need to be reinstalled.

I'm sorry, Ninja, no way am I going to restore anything! It took sooo much effort to get to where I am now. Oh, dash the thought! I must confess one thing, though, belatedly, someone had let Norton 360 expire. So I wasn't totally crazy thinking I had seen it before...

This is for you Bee:

Bee,
My suggestion for system restore is only for future reference if something like this ever happens again, no way would I do it now.
And GSD admin is correct if you restore it to say a week prior, you will lose anything you received or saved after that date.
System restore can be a quick (no charge) resolution. With the above mentioned draw-back.

GG, that video was hysterical! LOL
Ninja, I hope I won't have to remember that tip, but thanks, for when I do.
