Snow in October, say it ain't so! - Page 4

I finally got my wireless to work today. I went to sleep dreaming about IP's, Gateways, Subnets, DHCP's, beginnings, endings, all kinds of stuff. I actually shouted at the cable help person... (In caps, that is... lol) I rebooted until my fingers bled. I ended up submitting to the ethernet connection, no wireless, just to get some things done, and so I could hit Google and Apple for the fix. 

Somewhere somebody had a screenshot I needed, I recognized those numbers. I went ahead and used them. The green light came on to my brand new Time Capsule, but still no internet.

I went to bed, woke up (with all those numbers and settigs going on in my head, all the long night long...). Tried the  Airport setup again, and it wanted my wireless network name, I gave it a new name, and damn it all! Things just started working all over the place!

Finally got all the branches cut up and the wood split from the storm. Should be able to heat the house for a couple days.

I'm back in wireless hell. I just returned with a brand new modem. So brand new and powerful, and it still wants to give me the dreaded "169..." IP.

I'm not sure exactly what settings I used to get it to work the last time, because now it says I have given two things the same IP, (I'm doing everything manually.) Cable company is only so helpful because they want me to lease a router from them, and claim ignorance on some key numbers. 

Plus they said there could be outages as they continue to fix things. I am so fed up with wasting my time. I should be able to communicate with my own private village with my set up, or so I am told. Once again, I'm on here with ethernet. 

I need to eat something, then I'll search for some good numbers and settings. There has to be an answer out there, somewhere! Unless anyone here has a good idea, or some good numbers...


And yes, the kids have been out of school all week long........!

RS: Pretty much the snow is all gone, except on the edges of shadows, stuff like that. It is just all those broken bits of trees hanging around all over the place! My girlfriend called and wanted to know if the cover was on the pool... they were supposed to do it on Monday, LOL  So, who knows... maybe we'll bundle up in bathrobes and carry a bottle of wine out there tonight... last hot tub of the year. I'm ready for it!

I am also happy to report everything appears to be working wirelessly, again. I sure wish the heck I knew for sure, what I did right. But seeing as it works... I'm going to quit while I'm ahead. LOL I need to vaccum, clean toilets, put clothes away, a shower, LOL ... anything! but something to do with computer networks!

Girlfriend just called. She wants the hot tub! Did I say I was not insane? We'll have to rethink that, I'm going to turn the heat up on the hot tub, now!

....DH came home today and said, "What the pool company never showed up?"

Go with the flow....
