May be you should add "Islamic" - as well as "Islimac" - to your filter when you look for news in addition to "Hispanic" "Latino" and "illegal".
I am not surprised you missed "Maurice Clemmons" - it is clearly not a Hispanic name or a Muslim name. You obviously thought that it was an upstanding citizen who passed muster with you and your friend who attends funerals of police officers!

SAN ANTONIO – Texas authorities said suspected drug runners in Mexico began shooting at U.S. law enforcement agents from across the Rio Grande on Thursday, forcing the U.S. officers to return fire and injuring at least three of the suspects on the other side of the border.
Few details about the early morning shootout in Hidalgo County were immediately available. The shootout began after U.S. agents patrolling in boats tried to seize a drug load on the Rio Grande, Texas Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Tela Mange said.
Mange said she could not disclose whether any U.S. officers were struck or injured. She said the agents came under "heavy fire" but would not say how long the ensuing shootout lasted.
Authorities said Mexican officials were notified about two "drug-laden" boats that were abandoned after the shootout.
U.S. Border Patrol referred questions to the DPS, which used its elite team of Texas Rangers Recon agents in the attempted drug seizure.
It is not the first time shots have been exchanged along the Texas-Mexico border. Since January of last year, DPS has tracked at least a dozen incidents of shots being fired from Mexico and into Texas, with U.S. officers shooting back in some cases.
No U.S. authorities have been reported hurt in those cases.

Especially since [then] Governer Mike Huckabee granted him clemancy after Clemmons wrote that he came from "a very good Christian family", commuting Clemmons' 108-year sentence he was serving for the 8 felonies he had committed. Clemmons was well know to be a Presbyterian.

The blogsite Fire Andrea Mitchell reported that a radical black Muslim group called National Black Foot Soldiers held a protest today outside the Parkland, Washington coffee shop where the murders occurred. The protesters allegedly gathered to celebrate Clemmons as a "Crowned BOW (Black on White) Martyr," calling his attack a "preemptive strike on terrorists..."
Nothing of the sort ever happened.

The substance of this story was originally announced by a blog called the Last Crusade, which has also claimed that Clemmons converted to Islam while imprisoned in Arkansas. "
He was married by a Presbyterian Minister in 2004, four years after being released from his 108 year prison sentence in Arkansas by [then Governer] Mike Huckabee.
