beetree, I don't think I can squeeze enough thought out of the few brain cells that are still functioning tonight, it's been a long day.  I will respond in the morning about the connection I believe exist between love and freedom.

My mom was an awesome woman and I have been married many years to a great girl.

Love starts with mom it is the foundation of all love. ;)

I am so very glad that you took this directional turn, vk4, for it most certainly is one of the directions I have been contemplating. I read your rewrite of the "fairy tale", lol. And it really brings home the point of an obsession. Yours, vk4, to be honest! Hundmutter touched upon this direction; how the abuse of love renders its core ideal into something odious. 

Yes, there is a parallel to religion with love, in my train of thought. I am glad some of you were observant enough to see it.  

I am eager to hear what you have to say about "freedom", too, Travels, when you get the time and state of mind to rejoin this conversation!

I have a bit of time, but not too much, today is cleaning, cleaning the Jeep and exercising the being that is not to be discussed in OT 

Love is elusive because humans are complicated.  Love, if it's true power were used in the right way, would produce peace among all peoples of the world.  The fact that people become obsessive about their "loves", that they become abusive and difficult and confuse where love belongs, accordingly, there will never be peace.  It's a double-edged sword and yet, it morphs.

Think about the heirarchy of love for just a minute.  Children are the accidental denominator in the equation, so it will never be quite balanced.  But let's start with the "nuclear family" and work our way out.

All of the situations are ideals, based on a society of proper "love".

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

The Individual: The individual must love itself more than anything before it can project that love toward anything.  Love = ego = selfishness = survival.  From here, we work our way out in order to best cooperate with others and live a life filled with love :)

Now, who to choose to extend your love?  Next will be family.
