say it isn't so ??...And I liked you too....
lol.
I like all animals, dislike those who are a liability to them and their survival, and do what I can to protect them all (including cats). That said, I'm all for cats (especially since they eat mice and kill snakes), but I'm all for them being no-where in my immediate vicinity.

Moons, I agree with the shooting of problem feral cats, I know first hand the pain and fear feral cats that are trapped and brought into shelters face.. People would rent live traps from the shelter, trap the scared things, bring them in to sit in a cage, with barking dogs, people and other cats stressing them out. Sitting in their own mess, too scared to eat or drink, only too be stuck with a needle on a pole, who knows if it hits the right spot.. Then the cat bounces around for about 15 minuets till it finally dies, after the 3 day hold of hell for the cat.. It would be much, much less stressful and painful for cat to be shot..
I too have taken in stray cats, and I have them fixed.. I like the cats, since having livestock, and having to keep the grains to feed them attracts mice and rats.. I don't have a problem with mice, but I am terrified of snakes LOL..

God bless you for taking all those cats in. You're a special person in my mind!

Ruger.....you sound like me....I take in every critter that needs my help.....mice, birds, squirrels, bunnies, dogs and cats. I either nurse the wildlife back to health then set them free or put them out of their misery. I care for the dogs and cats until I find a suitable home for them. I absolutely do not go near Petsmart or Petco on adoption day......all that baby fluff and the sad eyes of the adults is way to tempting for me.
I would have a few barn cats if it weren't for the coyote's....they keep the loose animal population down in my area...both cats and dogs :(

I knew a man with coyote problems and he traded for a Cougar, the coyotes didn't get close enough to see it, just the scent of the big cat sent them packing.

I've seen a couple as large as my male.....most are about the size of my female and they run in packs of three or more.

My dogs number three and they don't really tangle, just give them a good run, no way they'd catch up to one without a head start here.
Have a zoo or exotic ranch nearby?..lol
Get a bag of cat droppings and give it a try.
Coyotes naturally fear a Cougar, they fear Wolves too.
I've used electric fences also.
They are hunted here successfully with calls.
