On second thought I will say this.

Besides it appears the drugs and alcohol are all legal. Now what folks? Zanax legal. Alcohol legal.

It is sad when people pass such judgments on legal addiction. Plenty of military personal past and present are addicted to alcohol and drugs. But I guess those are overlooked as they are heroes.

Now I need to get out of here edited out my own judgements and pet peeves.

Carlin, you need to define "substance". There is a pyramid of this, as I recall, one level must be fulfilled before the other can be attained. I question your level.

We like to stick our heads in the sand, and pretend that the way we've lived, in this place, in this time, is "reality". This level of prosperity is extremely short lived, and is unraveling as I write this post. It has produced a climate where people's entire existence revolves around feeding their appetites (we are by far the fattest nation in the history of mankind), whether it be for food or entertainment. We have such incredible tunnel vision when it comes to the fact that nit everyone in the world, not the vast majority of people, live The way we do. Yes, it's easy to say, "la la we are so blessed and I'm so thankful for all we have"... nonsense - there is no frame of reference anymore for such ramblings. As far as my "level", I prefer not to use the word, as if comparing myself to what and who is around me is any indicator at all of where I stand in terms of where I should be. The sacrifices I have made would shock some, such as yourself, and be of little note to others. There is a time a place, and a purpose for such conversation, but I have no interest in peddling those things in a forum about a poster child of the degradation of America.

I think you misunderstand what is meant by level. Only that one can not appreciate what is on the next level until the conditions of the first one are met. Psyche 101.





Anyway, I still think you are a bit over the top with the condemnation of Whitney Houston as the "poster child of the degradation of America". And that's okay with me.

I haven't at all demonized WH. Unlike many, I never had any expectations of her any different from the guy standing across from me. From my first post in this thread, it was never about WH. I didn't say she was THE posterchild, but she is A posterchild, as I did say. That's a nice little pyramid picture btw; 19th century psychology has done us a world of good. It is unfortunate that the concept of psychology is only as accurate and functional as those who have postulated it. In terms of my cutesy pyramid picture level, I submit that I operate on a different plane entirely; one that is not self-concentric.

But it seems to be top secret! Explain oh, mighty one.

And there you have it! You are a mystery to me. I continually find myself flying the anti-plane   to your plane , always in the opposite hemisphere! 

So you must understand if I need to ask, who are your passengers? 

Another thread gone ridiculous.  I know little children who argue less than some of the people on this forum.
