79F here again today, just one of the 290 or so sunny days we get here every year. It does get cold, down into the 30's a few days a year in winter, windy and sometimes thick fog for days, but the sun heats the house up fast most days. Average heating bill for this little place with natural gas in winter is $35/mo., about 1/10th of what it was when I lived in PA. That, and the inexpensive produce available year round in California, (4 annual harvest seasons here) makes a huge difference in cost of living.
I just pray its not nasty when I have to go back to PA next month.

SS: For your sake, please say you are flying back to Pa, the "final time"! The eight or so inches we got aren't going to go away in a day. Boots are very fashionable right now, so I'd be prepared .
Our Cable and Internet are now both gone. They cancelled school and left it as, probably for a number of days .,. Saying this is worse than Irene. Sure was a pretty dazzling white to wake up to, though. DH just came back with some movies, good move, lol
Oh, and I am loving my son's iPad, with the 3G internet, glad we can stay connected with it.

I can't believe you are getting all that snow Beetree! I didn't read all of the thread, so forgive me for asking, but where abouts are you? Are you higher north than me here in Southern Ontario?
9C here today, sunny and quite nice!

RS: We can't believe it either! The "rain to snow" never happened, it was just snow! I'm in southwestern CT, New England, a bit inland so I'm not on the shore, a little more higher up in elevation.
I"m planning a trip to the Apple store, in a few minutes. Cable internet is back, but NOW my Airport Express is on the fritz apparently, it just doesn't want to be recognized any more, and I've just about had it. I'll spend a few bucks ... on the newer, Time Capsule and hope my problems fade away!!!
All this computer stuff is driving me nuts, again! And all of a sudden it seems we are having a Halloween party at my house tonight! The least I can do for the kids I guess, since we are one of the lucky ones, with power, this time around.
If the kids miss a whole week of school, I'll start screaming and I may never stop! LOL

Speaking of Halloween, they were saying on the Today Show that a couple of places in Mass. were asking the parents of trick or treaters to wait until Thursday to do their trick or treating. I thought for the little kids it might be easy to put them off a few days but the bigger kids, who can read calendars are going to know the difference!!!! But5 shoot I guess as long as they are going to go and collect free candy what difference does it make!!!!!

It is true! Our town sent out the Code Red and cancelled Halloween, LOL I've never ever heard of that before. That is why I said the kids could get together here. I'll let them eat all the candy I already bought!
...But really I'm glad, otherwise, some idiots would be out there and end up getting hit by a car or something.
And now I'm off to the mall, they better be open. I've tried everything I know to get this router to work. It hates me. LOL

Well Sat I posted those two snow pictures, then took the wife out to eat, swung by my business on the way back to pick up the plow truck and the power was out there. The fire department was parked in my business driveway. Four trees were down across the road etc., wires you name it. So I took the plow truck home and when I got there the power was also out at the house.
All night long all I could hear is cracking and falling branches. Everyone's yard is a mess, branches down all over the place with leaves that haven't even changed color yet. Still no power at work yet, It just came on at home about fifteen minutes ago. Quite a surprise, because my daughter called this morning and they said you might have your power back by 11/03.
I'm in MA and some places have cancelled Halloween and some have postponed it. There are live wires all over the place so it's not too smart to take kids out in the dark.
I've lived in this general area my whole life and we just don't get these kind of storms in Oct. After Thanksgiving anything is possible, but never this early.

Obviously, they can't help at the moment! LOL
I'm just going to put those Giant Cat Eyes in the window and light the pumpkins any way...

Those bags of candy are going down!!!! They will be opened and distributed to any who enter! I insist!
