Hi Beetree!

I guess I lucked out. No power loss. Cable was out for 24hrs but is now back.

No need for the chainsaw as most of the debris is small branches, leaves and twigs.

Step daughter and family are still not home yet from the Bahamas. Somehow they got to Florida. My wife has been house sitting for a week and a half and is getting a little flustered as we are supposed to be leaving for Bar Harbor ME Friday morning.

I hope you get your power back soon. A few years ago we lost it during an ice storm for over a week in the middle of the winter. What a disaster that was.

A lot of damage from downed trees around here. a lot of places still have power out. I think VT and upstate NY really got hammered. I know they got a lot more rain.

Hope everything improves soon for you!

Baby Eagle your kid is going to school? Another day off for mine!!! Seems the town is opening the HS and parks up for showers as they try to get everyone's power back.

Ninja, I just came back from the Cable Service center to exchange one of our boxes... it didn't survive the power surge when the power came back on.

Yes of course, he's in a private school they only cancel when road surfaces are extreme, which is really good because all the kids love the back to school field day and pep rally. Get's them all excited for school. (lol)

I cannot believe the Inc. business's around here are all shut down for one week. Awesome. They not only save on their labor costs and money ... all the unemployed people will now have help and heavy machines to get properties cleaned up. (lol) Sorry FEMA, all the timber outta Penns Woods is private property !!!!

Hey the Martins brothers have canoe and paddle boat adventures down their property for free !!  BYO boat and booze !! LMAO  Too funny !!!

Tomorrow the heavy machines work their way up the north east ridge, once they timber all the trees, we need to know where to put them to redirect the flow of water. We have one week to get this all finished as per our States LEMA or we all get fines for blocking right-of-way roadways and they take all our trees and water !!! NOT !!

Sooo, during Katrina, did FEMA take control of the Louisiana Straight and westward sound (?) if so we need the name of the biggest man-made canal west bound that connects to the westward sound. EMail me please.

We'll use the downed timber to channel all this water to be irrigated by the Farmers that need it !!!

Beetree glad to see you're making progress.

I got my cable back last night.

It is what it is. LOL

by beetree on 30 August 2011 - 21:08

Yes it is Ninja, and then I had to go back to the Cable place (2 towns over driving on main roads with no stoplights. It is an adventure!) because she forgot to give me the power cord, arghhhh, and I didn't notice she forgot to give me the power cord. I did it for the little guy, though, he tagged along for the second trip and got a banana-split flavored sucker for his troubles. The cable place was running on generator power, too. The blessing is, that now, the weather is just awesome, no need for AC. etc. What a jokester Mother Nature is!

BabyEagle, have you enough logs to make an aquaduct to TX? They need the rain bad, from what I hear.  Oh, and there was a guy in CT who went canoeing with a friend during all this, and it capsized. His friend made it out, but he drowned. Stupid or illegal? I think staying alive is the main point those cops wanted to make, not a court case.

No silly, but there's enough damaged trees amongst us to make a guided channel that directs it 2 some place that needs it. By the looks of it we can get it to the Swatara an the Conestoga, the Conestoga runs into the westward sound. Why should we let FEMA come pump it, sell our trees and occupy our land for who knows how long. They prolly screw us with imminent domain or some shit after they bleed nature dry and wreck our property. Forget that.

Most of the trees down are 1,000.00 $ trees and most are out by the root. Why not use them for something constructive instead of letting FEMA take them ? That's the only reason FEMA is pokin around PA woods, looking to make some money off stolen goods. NOT !!!

Glad I'm not the only one making the decision here, if it was all up to me we would all be doing our own thing and I'd be selling trees to the local saw mill then buy gold and silver. But, I suppose I do the right thing and go along with what everyone else is doing, and that's supporting the FFA and sending this water to someone who needs it useing the downed timber.

I hear there's another Hurricane comin too, Tupac is the name I heard. (lol)

Busy Busy.
