Bazza, wrong again.  You are cocky and remarkably uninformed. Fine if you don't agree with anything I claim or hypothesize, but no need for smartass put downs, capish?  So far you have zero credibilty.  Try and establish some.

Here's another recent popular conspiracy theory.  You decide if it is true or not.  This is the claim that the new VIPR teams are "kill teams" or roving assassination teams.  I have no view either way, since so far they haven't been fully deployed and haven't been murdering civilians.  Some say they dress in black to like like nazis.  How come so many new govt websites are black and so much money is being spent on black ops.  So far in California two men have been shot dead by transit police, supposedly "mistakes".

Here's one more conspiracy theory for interested ozone sniffers.  And this one is that a company man is going to be perhaps thrown to the wind or "cut loose" for political reasons, to help provide a way out of pakistan and afghanistan, now believed to be un-winnable wars.  I have no view yet and have not studied this.

Uh oh!  Did not intend for this thread to become a thread for posting theories, just wondered if anyone actually believed in them because for the most part, I don't.  The only conspiracy theories I believe are Watergate and the Iran contra hearings.  But, I did title the thread "conspiracy theories."

What I find interesting is that with all the pseudo research, admittedly to shed light and awaken the dumbed-down masses, there is never a suggestion as to what to actually do about any of these shocking revelations.

Where is the Top Ten List for preparing for Conspiracy Theories?

True, bee, also you notice our government does not do much to defend itself from these theories.  I did however find this government site:  http://www.america.gov/st/webchat-english/2009/May/20060828133846esnamfuaK0.2676355.html.

Here's an article that writes about how theories get started:

The following is from an interesting article entitled, "Toxic to Democracy:  Conspiracy Theories:"
Source:  http://engageonline.wordpress.com/2009/06/12/toxic-to-democracy-conspiracy-theories-demonization-scapegoating-chip-berlet/

CONSPIRACISM IS PERILOUS
TO IGNORE

Conspiracist theories are attractive in part because
they start with a grain of truth embedded in preexisting
societal beliefs.

Conspiracy theorists are correct about one thing:
the status quo is not acceptable. Conspiracists have
accurately understood that there are inequalities of
power and privilege in the world—and threats to the
world itself—that need to be rectified. What conspiracy
theorists lack is the desire or ability to follow the
basic rules of logic and investigative research.
Conspiracy theories spotlight lots of fascinating questions—
but they seldom illuminate meaningful
answers.

While conspiracists tell compelling stories, they
frequently create dangerous conditions as these
stories can draw from pre-existing stereotypes and
prejudices. Cynical movement leaders then can
hyperbolize false claims in a way that mobilizes dangerous
forms of demonization and scapegoating.
People who believe conspiracist allegations sometimes
act on those irrational beliefs, and this has
concrete consequences in the real world. Angry allegations
can quickly turn into aggression and
violence targeting scapegoated groups.
Conspiracist thinking and scapegoating on a
mass scale are symptoms, not causes, of underlying
societal tensions; and while conspiracism needs to be
opposed, the resolution of the grievances themselves
is necessary to restore a healthy society.
Whether conspiracist claims are circulated by
angry populists or anxious government officials, the
dynamics generated by conspiracy theories are toxic
to democracy.

"Bazza, I never claimed I was tapped by Murdoch op. "  ????? I never claimed you said you were, try getting SOME facts right, lol.  COCKY? Smartass put downs? No, like you, I too am entitled to my opinion, I believe you call it FREEDOM OF SPEECH. Or like you keep telling everyone else, if you do not like it pass on by.
Zero credibilty? Try and establish some?? You mean like you imagine you have any credibility? No thanks, at least I can say with all honesty I'm completely SANE, certainly not the way you are coming across.
100% PURE GOLD PRICELESS, but again thanks for the amusement!!!

Many so called conspiracy theories have been proved in court or Congressional hearings or by release of actual govt documents.

Operation Northwoods was a real JCS plan that was stopped by JFK.  Rumors were at first ridiculed as conspiracy theory.  Now the actual docs have been released by the US Govt and the so called conspiracy has become validated fact.

There were rumors of a top secret cia plan called "Finders" which kidnapped or bougght young children to torture and mindkontrol. Folks who mentioned this and who had leaked it were called conspiracy nuts, etc.  But one of the Agents who investigated (Ramirez) was outraged and talked.  The actual investigation reports were leaked and cross validated many times.  One US Congressman tried to expose this and when he couldn't get any traction, he released the docs to reserachers and investigative reporters, and only one had the guts to publish the story (the Editor of US News & Reports was so disgusted he published it and took the flak from intel).  So now this so called conspiracy theory has been proven to have in fact exist, and is still being run as the "special child program".

For many years the cia's MK Ultra mindkontrol operations were rumored to exist based on leaks from agents and doctors who witbnessses these ops and who were distressed by them but were afraid to go public.  Then finally Senator Frank Church got so much actual evidence given him he held Congressional hearings.  During these hearings William Colby, head of the company, admitted the program existed and also the cia had sophisticated assassination tools, drugs (TSD) and procedures. He was later ridilculed by other intel officials for letting the truth out.  When he admitted that the franklin coverup matter was an actual Govt operation to compromise  high govt officials and corp leaders and diplomats in DC, he was murdered and this was set up as a phony drwoning in 4 feet of water, supposedly falling from his kyak while sitting at his dinner table eating dinner (impossible).  Now actual MKUltra docs hjave been declassifuied by the US Govt and it is no longer a conspiracy theory.

The idea that 911 was a false flag/standown inside job attack conducted by the USAF was a rumor tghat emerged within two years after 911.  The major media ridiculed anyone who considered this and accyused them in lockstep to be wingnuts, conspiracists, and conspiracy theorists.  Now years later, high Govt officials have come forth (many of them) and publicly admitted that the 911 commission was a coverup and invalid, and that 911 was actually a false flag/standown inside job attack by the USAF. Steve Pieczenik, MD, PH.D. Top spymaster and Black Ops expert who still consults with the pentagon, has come forth publicly and none of the 5 major mass media will allow him to speak out, so he has appeared on alternative investigative news sites. So once again another so called conspiracy theory is proven.

For years researchers claimed that the US Govt claimed that the "gulf of tonkin" attack on the US Navy was "staged" by the US Navy.  Denied re4peatedl;y, such researcher were called conspiracy nuts.  Now years later befiore he died Robert McNamara admitted publicly in a speech at Harvard to Gov. Jesse Ventutra that the Gulf of Tonkin attacks was in fact staged as a false flag in order to justify getting into the vietnam war. Jesse Ventura was outraged because he lost many friends in that war which he fought in.   So we have 55,000+ needlessly dead American troops and many, many thousands of needlessly wounded and disabled American troops, ALL BASED ON A BIG LIE.  So once again another conspiracy theory is proven beyond question.

For many years, the attack on the Liberty ship was covered up and called a msitake.  Anyone who said it was deliberately ordered by LBJ to get us into a war with Eqypt was attacked as a conspiracy theorist.  Many years later despite a complete news embargo on the story and serious threats against the surviving crew, many started speaking out and writing books.  Now with the alternative media, the story has been procven by many actual eyewitnesses.  And another so called conspiracy is proven beyond question.
