Two Moons

by Two Moons on 25 July 2013 - 13:07

I generally do look in around this time of day, if I'm around the house.
It's kinda sad actually.

I'd rather be on a tropical island.

SMH..........

"...But man's craving for grandiosity is now suffering from the third and most bitter blow from present day psychological research which is endeavoring to show the "ego" of each of us that he is not even master of his own house, but that he must remain content with the veriest scrap of information about what is going on unconsciously in his own mind." -Sigmund Freud.

That was definitely not worth the wait.

Anyway,I got a kick out of the video, and thinking of Blitzen in leather.

So far my day's been uneventful.

I'm hoping for a better afternoon.

Shut up. Moons.

Carlin, are you justifying stereotyping?

Two Moons

LOL....
shut up?

What's that for?

Blitzen -the thought processes consistent with the human mind don't seem to be the substance of things "justifiable", rather, are a condition of humanity, and the way we learn and deal with information.  What I am not justifying, is the choice of those who would behave inappropriately, as that is within their control.  The word "stereotyping" encompasses quite a bit in fact, and the idea that all of those aspects can be dealt with here casually and universally, limiting the application to the act of profiling for instance, would be a misstep, IMO.

The act of making judgments based on associations is nothing new or limited to anyone in particular.
It's as old as time.

Except now it's not politically correct.

Stereotyping,
A survival instinct.

Blitzen,
you wouldn't have any leather pictures you'd share with us would you?

...and genetic evolution of the brain and its psychological processes just doesn't happen quickly enough to proceed under the illusion that this has changed, or will change anytime soon.

I think of it more as a fact of processing information rather than justification. Justification implies correction of a negative, and I don't think all stereotypes are automatically negative.

It could be for some, if their internal, private conversations are based only on the negative. I think that is Carlin's perspective taken from the professor's explanation.

It would be unfortunate to ignore what is useful information by making a stereotype connection in favor of a utopian view of the individual as always unique in motives and deeds.
