Either or, bee. We had a direct hit day before yesterday. Made me jump so bad I almost stepped on two puppies. Close, man. We lived in Key Largo when Donna hit in 1960, I think it was. The eye went over us. They say that was a one, but there were fish up in trees, we had a dock and big catamaran still tied to it in the back yard. Waves went from the ocean side clear across to the bayside, bottles of beer were floating in seawater across US1. Water line was up to the ceiling in houses and dead fish in the foot deep silt in the houses. What a mess.
The adults boarded up the windows, but that didn't stop a boat from going through the plywood, through house and out the other side, through the plywood over that window. Evacuation was ordered for the islands, but we stayed at the Rod'n Reel . It flooded, too, so we went upstairs, watched the island blow away.

Cry SmileJust have to talk about hurricanes, don't ya. Tampa has been spared for many, many years; our luck will run out sooner or later. Our plan is to get in the motorhome and visit with Joanro unless she's in the  path too. If so we will bring the motorcycle trailer, pick up her, dogs, goats and head north to BeeTree land. I'll have a martini, shaken and not stirred.

Man, I just had to correct the typo on my above post....1060 instead of 1960 . I'm old but damn, not THAT old, LOL

Blitzen, we're safe here. Just a puff of wind and a shower of rain from any hurricanes. Plenty of room for the RV. :-)

LOL, AND.....I WAS thinking.... geeze.... that was before William the Conqueror and the Battle of Hastings!

Teeth Smile Blitzen: I'll have to go buy that shaker thingy, and some good vodka, and put it in my Extreme Weather Emergency Box, just in case. You are welcome of course, anytime!

The epitome of style and grace throughout this entire tragedy has been and still is Trayvon's mother. I wish I were as classy as she is.

Highlights from Obama's statement on the Martin case:

"The judge conducted the trial in a professional manner. The prosecution and the defense made their arguments. The juries (sic) were properly instructed that in a -- in a case such as this, reasonable doubt was relevant. And they rendered a verdict.  And once the jury's spoken, that's how our system works."

"I think it's important to recognize that the African-American community is looking at this issue through a set of experiences and a -- and a history that -- that doesn't go away."

"And, you know, I -- I don't want to exaggerate this, but those sets of experiences inform how the African-American community interprets what happened one night in Florida."

"I know that Eric Holder is reviewing what happened down there, but I think it's important for people to have some clear expectations here. Traditionally, these are issues of state and local government. The criminal code and law enforcement is traditionally done at the state and local levels, not at the federal levels."

"And then, finally, I think it's going to be important for all of us to do some soul-searching. You know, there's been talk about, should we convene a conversation on race? I haven't seen that be particularly productive when, you know, politicians try to organize conversations. They end up being stilted and politicized, and folks are locked into the positions they already have."

"And let me just leave you with -- with the final thought that, as difficult and challenging as this whole episode has been for a lot of people, I don't want us to lose sight that things are getting better. Each successive generation seems to be making progress in changing attitudes when it comes to race."

I'll give credit where credit is due, and this was a difficult position for Obama to take in the current climate.

Sure got me going. AMEN and Halllelulia! Sabrina does act classy, and I am afraid it might just be a good act. I refrained from sending any money out of principle.
