you're making the assumptions I asked you not to make
I made no assumptions. My life verse is Proverbs 3:5.

I don't have a life verse. I have a life book. I've already told you about the scissors, the glue, and the construction paper. 3:5 is wonderful, but you can't ignore 3:6. There is a reason Jesus taught about 10 virgins and some oil as opposesed to 5 virgins and 5 whores. All of the virgins were promised to groom. It's much more complicated today, because today, in the west, it doesn't cost you anything to be a "christian". In other places, and other times, it cost you everything. This changes the entire landscape of "christianity". The sheep must enter through the gate. There's no buddy system in heaven, "each one must give account". Just you, and God, no mother, father, pastor, Sunday school teacher or criminal off of TBN. Read the gospels from beginning to end as if you've never read them before, and forget the poison flooding your brain left and right. When the blind lead the blind, they both fall into the ditch. Not everyone who cries Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom, but.only those who do the will of the Father. Jesus said that they will then say, did we not to cast out devils in your name, did you jot teach in our streets, did we not eat with you... friend, He's not talking to unbelievers, He's talking to the church. Go read what Jesus told the sons of Zebedee.

The idea of reading scripture in its full context and scripture being written for/to believers, is marvelous!!! Imagine that!!..;)

Oh btw, this just in... the cup Jesus spoke of to the sons of Zebedee isn't a thimble full of grape juice once a month.

Proverbs 3:6 is crucial as well of course since we need to acknowledge Him and let Him direct us in our lives. Proverbs 3:5 has always been a verse that I am able to apply to myself in various circumstances to remind myself that I always need to trust in Him no matter what is going on and not fall into the temptation of relying on myself. All of scripture is applicable and needs to be studied.

Yes, it is God who will keep is, it is God who will complete the work he began in us, it is God who will do the work of sanctification. I have already stated in this thread, that even Jesus could do nothing he did nit see the father doing. That said, biblical Christianity is not an idea, a spectator sport, or a hobby. It' s a choice made every day, not once at an alter 20 years ago.many are called, few are chosen. Paul points out that he had not yet attained, Peter exhorts us to "work out" our salvation. If the guy who wrote most of the nt had not yet attained it, it would seem quite pretentious to believe one will present their "membership card" at the pearly gates. I believe there may be an express lane for those people, but it might not be headed in the direction they think. There's a reason why Jesus left out one of the tribes of Israel in the Revelation, when he describes the great multitude. Read scripture for yourself
