Msr. Berneuil most definitely does export, both pups and adults. If I were considering getting into Ringsport with a GSD, I'd give very serious consideration to a pup or young adult from his kennel. 

 

I've got a few dogs in Ringsport actually. It's super fun. I've got to say, the scaling wall is the one thing that worries me the most with Shepherds. I wish they'd approve a ramp already... :/

I have heard that a fair amount of Malinois breeders breeding for ring sports don't x-rays their dogs hips, but just wait and see if they hold up climbing the high scaling walls over time before they breed them.

I got some pups that will prob make good ring sport type dogs but will test more as they age the only thing is they will likey be on the small side and legs might be on the shorter end meaning not sure how well they will do going over a wall, they have some Staatsmacht and some strong Karthago producing females in bloodline.

Pardon my ignorance... can't the dog just jump the wall and then there's only the landing, but no climbing to worry about?

I had a GSD puppy jump a 6 ft privacy fence (and clear it easily) at 3 months (chasing a rabbit)... she also climbed chain link fences/exercise pen panels since she was 2 months old.

So I'm guessing climbing/scaling or jumping would both be feasible.

I've done and titled GSD in French Ring. Dog did well. I would still be doing FR ring with GSD however the 2 sided wall was just too risky to ask a dog to do in my opinion. One bad landing and a dog's career can come to an end. French Ring clubs are few and far apart. Be ready to travel a lot if trialing. G.

How many Malinois have 'crashed' from competing in ringsport?

As for good GSDs in ring, "Flambeau des Legendaires Lanova" is arguable the best GSD in ringsport in the past 20 years at least. I've not seen a better GSD in ring. His object guard is better than most of the malinois at the top

I have met and talked with Mr. Daniel Berneuil 2O years ago . He came to our area when we had a French Ring trial. I liked this man ,he seemed to be a very very nice man . He had brought with him some nice working GS that he owned . I thought seriously about purchasing some GS pups from his next breeding . Not trying to plug for him here , simply sharing my experiences .

However , I didn't get any GS from him because I had at some SV Judge friends and one placed a GS puppy from their breeding with me . I wanted at that time a GS that I could compete in both Bundessieger Shows in Germany [ trial and show ] . And that was a whole lot to be asking for !! Today , that would just about be impossible. So no knocking Daniel , my aspirations were way beyond only doing French Ring , as I have been doing my with other GSs.
