PLEASE don't be discouraged from getting a wonderful german shepherd. Use the good trainer you found to help you find a responsible professional breeder and to help you select the proper breeding pair and puppy. And even if you find a responsible breeder, always get everything in writing in a contract before you give them a penny. Sadly, you now know what needs to be in the contract. Many breeders have links to their own contracts right on their websites, so you can also download them and write up your own contract with terms favorable to YOU.
Good luck!

In order to avoid court, Peggy agreed to give me a puppy from the dam in Virginia or our refund back by Christmas, whichever she could make happen first. Even though I knew this litter wouldn't be the right match for us, I agreed to this in hopes of avoiding court since it was the holiday season and my grandpa's health was deteriorating. The sire had 18 titles and I was told that there was a good chance I could resell the puppy for the price we paid to someone better suited if needed. Peggy was unable to buy this litter and changed her mind about the refund. She had a litter of at least 4 puppies (according to a picture she had posted) born on December 27th which she wanted us to buy a male from. I pointed out that was not our agreement and refused to buy it. She agreed to sell that male and once she did she would use the money to refund us. I noticed the listing for him was removed and inquired about it on February 6. She told me she gave that puppy to someone else with no monies exchanged. Even if that's true, I doubt she gave all the puppies away but she is refusing to use the sale of any of them to refund us. At this point she is refusing to work with us. My grandpa passed away last weekend so we are a little behind on sending our demand letter but will have that in the mail no later than next week. If we do not receive our refund at that point, we are completely ready to take legal action.
Anyone planning on doing business with Peggy, anything from buying a puppy, an adult dog, or a breeding, please use caution. Many people are coming forward with horror stories. There are many things that can go wrong. In the case of breeding, please make sure you require UP TO DATE proof of health, especially for brucellosis.

As far as this breeder goes, she hasn't made good on anything she's promised so far. To think that she's suddenly going to do so when you send your demand letter this time is simply magical thinking on your part. File the court paperwork and be done with it--you're just prolonging things, and could well end up running out the statute of limitations with all of her delay tactics.

This lady is obviously a scumbag. Why would you even consider getting a puppy from her instead of a refund. Most likely the puppy you get will not be anything to be proud of anyway.
There are a few good breeders in MI that I know of. Find yourself a good breeder once you get your money back. Try http://wildhauskennels.com/
if that doesn't fit your needs, she can point you to good breeders that breed the type of dog you want. Good luck.

I definitely appreciate hearing referrals since I have no idea where to go after this. Thanks for taking the time to tell me about her, I'm looking forward to checking her out! :)
