I also noticed how the owner or manager tried to Accomodate the mishap saying..."8years old is the age we start  letting kids use the guns with the Parents approval..."

THE mistake the instructor made was not holding the arm of the kid..KIDS cannot handle the   Recoil of that magnitude!!!!

My late husband let our sone at 8 yrs old shoot the Shot gun out in the back of the pasture but he held the gun for him showing him how it would KICK and made sure he learned how to be ready for it..

THIS was  parents decission and a bad one.

I have seen articles about children killed on a Ferris Wheel , put into the bucket with an older sibling and the bar came open , and the child fell to the ground...Parents make decisions to let children engage in Adult activities and they do not know how to watch for the perils of the pleasure they are engaged in.

Whole thing was very bad judgment...child has no business touching a gun.

As long as the 'self limiting' factor never happens again - sadly my concern is that there will always

be some fool who does it again;  sometimes we are awfully bad at learning from others' mistakes.

Ok we are not talking huge numbers, perhaps, but who knows ?  I had no idea shooting schools

would allow such small children to try their hands at more than a BB gun.

I bet this  Criterior changes at the Arizona Last Stop  a tourist gun range where this family  were visitors and watched and videoed their child .

The gun range managers  were still verifying their stand with this statement:

"We instruct kids as young as 5 on .22 rifles, and they don't get to handle high firearms, but they're under the supervision of their parents and of our professional range masters," Scarmardo said.

Wonder who wil file What kind of a Law Suit?

Should the instructor have done differently because she was a girl>? or should the instructor have guided her with hands on to make sure the gun did not recoil ? injuring her...LIABILITY lies where?

Did this company or resort endanger a child by negligence of instruction?

Hm, ya can't get killed twice.

How can a gun range be allowed to let five yr olds shoot live amo from a gun, but a mother who is working gets arrested and hauled off to jail and charged with child endangerment for letting her nine or ten yr old kid play at the playground by herself.

My 8 yr old is shooting at an expert level in both sidearms and rifle. She is excellent at night shooting also.

Near same thing happened maybe two years ago?, also an Uzi. They tend to recoil and point up, shoot.
I think it is the Micro Uzi...
I can't think of any reason a kid should fire one of these. I'm not sure there is any reason anyone should.
The clip says it was illegal ?

Father Lets His 8-Year-Old Boy Fire An Uzi machine Gun and It Backfires
Sadly, this 8-year-old child also died.

Chaz, As an eight year old, how does your daughter rate with an Uzi? Do the firing rages give small children, say eight year olds, a handicap on the range? You know, like allowing for selfinflected bullet wounds, when tallying the score?
