YR, I'm not going to change anything about my driveway, this is a low speed, residential street and before I do that, I'll snatch someone out of their car! There are kids that play on this street and when anyone breaks the crest of that hill, if they're doing more than 20, they're risking lives.
Puts me in mind of about 20 years ago, Halloween night. There was a woman who lived at the bottom of the hill and she used to speed thru here all the time. I yelled at her on more than one occasion and she always ignored me. We have no street lights here and it gets pretty dark at night and on Halloween, there were lots of kids on the street. She came tearing past here when I was sitting outside, giving the kids candy, dressed as a witch :) I hopped in my car and went down the hill and knocked on their door and the husband answered. I reamed him a new orifice and told him I wanted to see his wife! He told me he was an attorney and he was going to file harassment charges against me. I almost fell over laughing and told him I was terrified! A big, high-powered attorney living down here in the circle, instead of on the other side of the Borough, next to the Country Club. Besides the fact that I could have every single neighbor in court, to testify about his wife's driving habits. He didn't have a response and his wife watched her speed from that day on.
P.S. When she was speeding, she usually had her two kids in the car with her!

Good on you, Travels!
One night, I was waiting outside for my husband to finish getting his outdoor clothes on so we could walk the dog, when two cars sped past me, racing. They went past several times in the few minutes I was waiting for him to come out.
When he finally came out, I told him about it and said i was thinking of calling the cops. He said to forget about it, and let's just walk the dog.
We were part way through our walk when we heard the sirens. One of the two racers had broadsided a van making a left turn into our subdivision, and killed the driver, a young woman. Her family kept a memorial candle and wreath at that intersection for over a year after the tragedy.
Whenever I see someone driving dangerously now, I don't hesitate to reach for my phone. It won't bring that young lady back but it will maybe save someone else's life.

Ouch Sunsilver, but I doubt they would've stopped them before they killed that woman. But I agree, dangerous drivers shouldn't be on the road!

Travels, I too was thinking you were going to say it hit your Jeep!
Phew!!
Your Jeep is out here in my neck of the woods!! Probably frozen solid to the ground where it's parked!!

GSDTravels, I grew up on "deadman's curve" on the road into my hometown, the curve was not designed for high speed that so many who ignored the 35mph sign didn't realize until they ended up in our side yard. My dad planted big pine trees to catch the cars and we were not allowed to play in our side yard.
In the last few months I had to call FHP 2 times due to dangerous drivers. I was traveling on a highway and three cars were weaving back and forth on I-4, slamming on the brakes on a 70mph highway then laughing when cars went swerving some into the median, then take off again cutting cars off, traveling at high rate of speed.
Traveling on a two lane road near me there is a blind spot if you are coming off the island and turning onto this road, I came around a curve and over a hill when I see a car zip across the opposite travel lanes to get onto the road to travel in my direction. It is a 55mph zone. He never stopped and just came onto the highway in the middle of both lanes then slammed on the brakes, I swerved around him into the grass median at 55mph (thank goodness for all wheel drive suvs) and the other cars swerved, some spinning off into the median and grass on the other side of the road. He races up to me and swerves at me. He swerved at other cars that got around him too. Then races ahead through the non-sunpass toll gate without paying and as the rest of us go through the sunpass and other gate toll gates, he then waits until all cars are through and slams on the brakes again only this time the are guardrails on both sides of exit from the gates so no where to go, multiple rearend accidents, thankfully I was through when he did this, then he took off, must have been going over 100mph to disappear that fast. But I guess he forgot toll gates have video cameras.
The final one was really frightening, about dusk but still bright enough to see, a big SUV with dark tinted windows was traveling down the two lane highway in the middle of nowhere that is 55mph, got up next to 3 Harleys and then swerved sideways into them knocking them flying, two were able to do a somewhat controlled crash onto the side of the road with injuries, the one hit hardest ended up traveling into a fence and let me tell you, the arterial spray in a decapitation is a frightening sight. What the idiots in the SUV didn't know was a couple unmarkeds were right behind me (coming back from some detective's conference) and one took off after them while the other stopped with me.
Florida is a dangerous place when the nuttbags are on the road.........

I hope those responsible are still rotting in jail! I guess you couldn't charge someone for first degree murder for pulling a stunt like that? (Too bad!)
Edit: did some research, and apparently you CAN

Not sure what is going with that case Sunsilver, have not been contacted and that was a few years back. Last I knew they were still looking for the perpetrators, the two detectives were out of their jurisdiction so who knows what is going on.
I used to love riding Harleys here in Florida and looked forward to Bike Week every year. The last few years, things and drivers have gotten crazy. Bike Week is not what it used to be and not worth the drive anymore. I had a stupid idiot flick a lighted cigarette out the window and it landed on me while I was at a stop sign, I am a 5' 9" former female body builder on a Harley used to dealing with confrontational a**hats, his reaction when I flicked the cigarette back in his window and stared at him was priceless.
