Finally we get somewhere! Except now I am confused about what you see as a connection with love, and how it "fuels us to always seek freedom." That is not something I considered at all! Care to expound on that one a bit?
I agree, though, that love shares the possibility to be used, abused and twisted in cruel ways. And rather uplifting joyous ways. Like that of puppy love! LOL That was adorable...

Love is actually a chemical reaction which is rather interesting. When you first meet that someone, you have a stress response which releases epinephrine and cortisol. Your heart rate increases as does your breathing, you sweat, and your mouth goes dry, you get that fluttery feeling in your stomach, which when you are afraid, is not so much fun, but when you are in love is wonderful. You also release high levels of dopamine, the "reward and pleasure" neurotransmitter. This is akin to being high on ecsasy or cocaine. You need less sleep, less food, increased energy, and more focused attention, especially on your new love interest. Finally, serotonin is released, and this is the "happiness/well-being" neurotransmitter that also influences sexual desire, memory, and learning. Now that you are in love and wanting to form a bond, this is where oxytocin comes in to play. It is released during that wonderful moment during intimacy and helps deepen feelings of attachment and wanting to be emotionally and physically close (it is the hormone released during childbirth and helps mothers form attachments to their baby as well as release milk for nursing). Vasopressin is a hormone that is important for long term commitment and monogamy. New research is finding some interesting things about vasopressin levels and long term monogamy and caring for children. The less there is, the more infidelity there is, the less interest in both mate and children. More vasopressin translates into long term commitment in both mate and children. Love and attachment are incredibly powerful and can drive people to great accomplishments.

If any relationship has at its base, or develops into, one of abuse of
power, or cruelty, or any form of exploitation, then surely it is not -
or is no longer - "love" at all ? Even if it still maintains some element
of sexual attraction, or obsession, or mothering instinct in either or
both parties. A mother or father may still have 'love' for an errant older
child, but if they are also afraid of that child, that is hardly a loving
relationship on the part of the child. Someone who beats up their partner/
spouse does not really love them, whatever either party might continue
to profess.

hi bee bee, belive it or not i missed you, well GF so much has happened since you been away, i got converted so allow me to explain love for the rest that have not experienced that "special" love...from above, the highest love of all (is that a song line?)
well guys it is like this, for infinity time before creation the only thing was god, us and god were indivisible in love, so at some random point in infinity god decided to spake the universe into existence so we would no longer be him but we could CHOOSE to love him, (not sure why he made so many trillions of stars/galaxies and species of insects etc and only one among the trillions and trillions capable of sustaining god worshipping creatures in the image of himself but i digress), so anyhoo afetr that he saw man was lonely so he used his rib and made WO-man. not sure exactly but must been coupla days after he made them they disobeyed him and made us all be sinners before we were even born so really we have no right to live and we are so unworthy even as a fetus. so god killed and tortured the shit out of millions of men women and children but finally was sooooo kind he maded himself from himself again and gave his son who is really him but also a man as well and he made him get deaded on the cross for us being born as sinners cos of that horny couple of teenager left unsupervised in the garden of eden few days after the universe was created making us all sinners before we were even born ... get it. so that is true love he made us from him to love him and if we don't we burn in hell for infinity and he will even make our skin and nerves grow back in hell so we can fully experience the pain of being burned alive for infinity over and over and over cos we were born sinners and he loved us so much he gave us his only begotten son which is really him ie god but also a man at the same time and.....well i think you get it
so that is what true love is.
