We had a Cockateel that died of old age, I still have his cage, didn't want to replace him.
After all the years another bird just couldn't replace him.

Yeah, I'll get more clowns, but something different.  I'm adding invertebrates first, I'm going with a reef tank.  I just have to increase the water flow, I have enough live rock already.  After I have a small reef colony established, I'll add a couple of fish.  That will probably take about a year, so it'll be a while.  Anyway, when I do get a couple of clowns, it will probably be these...

Sunsilver

When I found a painted turtle that had had 3 of its 4 feet bitten off by a raccoon, I was advised the most humane method of euthanasia was to put it in the freezer. Since turtles naturally hibernate, the cold would just make it go to sleep, then it would die in its sleep.

I actually kept it as a pet for several years, then donated it to a pet shop for breeding purposes. I called him "Stumpy" He could get around quite well on those stumps, and even swim. It was pulling himself out of the water to bask that he had the most trouble with, so I set his aquarium up with a ramp of stone.

We found a tortoise once with a broken shell, crushed by some predator.
I was able to pull the shell fragment back up into place sorta with grey tape, the handy mans secret weapon.
It survived just fine, tough little buggers.

wow..i had no idea fish lived that long.....
I bought my little brother (years ago) African frog, the one that they sell in a mall in a small round fish tanks...Anyways on paper it said avg. life span 18 months....that frog lived for 3.5 years...he was old and his eyes got milky and he changed color to whitish transparent skin and he could not lift one of his legs..my mom kept feeding him dry worms (for fish) from tweezers...it was sad to see little bugger go...it is amazing to see the improvement of "expected" life span when some creature has a good life...makes you wonder how long can we live if someone takes away stressors of life and fast food...:)

LOL....
Human life span has only increased due to the un-natural protective bubble we live in.
How long can one afford to live financially?
How much help would be required to perform tasks you simply can no longer perform for yourself.?
How bored can one get in a life time.
Who really wants to live forever..
