Carlin

Yes, children of all ages in all places exhibit this behavior.  However, before the age of around seven, they have underdeveloped prefrontal cortex's as part of the preoperational stage of development, the part of the brain which functions as the "executive", so to speak. Such a raw specimen is a much better example of our innate drives resident in the primitive portion of our brains (amygdala, hypothalamus, hippocampus).  The base drives remain primitive.  These were invaluable to the survival of the group for thousands of years.

Carlin,

My youngest son went to one preschool for exactly one day. His response to a disagreement in ethics, was settled in a most profound shoving kind of way. Wink Smile

There are great teachers out there, who showed him the way of words; I owe them so much.

Bee - sucks to be so young and not be fully able to express yourself. I remember not being able to explain what I saw happening, and the teacher was seemingly oblivious to this poor kid's situation. They thought I was just whaling away on these other kids in the middle of class for no good reason. I was also fortunate that my 1st grade teacher took the time to help. Special teachers can make huge difference.

"Things like race have never mattered to me, nor do I lump people into groups, except when they run in a mob.
The individual is the only thing that really matters in the end."

"instead of learning strength our children and many adults want someone to hold their hand, want a support group to join, thinking that is an answer.
It is not."

Good stuff,,:)

I live on the frontier, of course I own a truck. Wink Smile  I may be quite the cowboy in a metaphorical sense, but I haven't yet adopted the full dress, lol.

Oh btw - careful examination of that article would reveal that author actually stands opposed to such a "convention".  If he is guilty of anything, it may be insensitivity, but I'm fairly certain that's still covered by freedom of the press.  As far as convention itself, the idea is fluid by definition, changing with contexts.  His entire point revolved around the idea that there exists a contingent of the far right (specifically within certain caucuses)  that remain problematic for the more moderate GOP candidates precisely because such conservatives hold to those older conventions.

Nothing like missing the forest for the trees.

And nothing like justifying that insensitivity, Carlin.  Freedom of the press or not, in my eyes the man is an ass.
