We found a little kitten someone had dumped, a neighbor as a matter of fact, living off insects, hanging out under a night light a few years ago, a beautiful black long hair no bigger than my hand.
Named her Smelly Cat..lol
As an adult she began spritzing everywhere and started killing wildlife and eventually after killing some flying squirrels was shot, she never felt a thing.

That we do Moons,,;)
I am not a person who is against putting an animal out of its misery quickly and humanly..I don't necessarily agree with "no kill shelters" because I think quality of life counts for something..I do however, have a big issue with irresponsible pet owners who do not spay/neuter and those that suffer animals to live like hell and die inhumanly...We once had a pretty vicious feral tom around the house and I asked my brother in law  who hunts to shoot it..It would not be befriended and it was attacking my cats..I only asked that he would make sure he didnt feel a thing,,,lol,,Lucky for the tom he disappeared and has not been back///.

And I too have a female who roams..All the other cats stay in the yard, but one of our females goes across the road and into the neighbors yard who is a bird lover!!,,,I know that she may not return home should she eat the wrong birdy one day!!..Poor kitty,,I hope the neighbors a good shot!!...

A agree,
with both posts, no matter what, I do not want animals to suffer.
A well timed well placed shot is not only fast but if done correctly the animal is not even aware and feels minimal pain, no fear, no terror, it is humane.

The only other issue with stray's is disease and parasites.
