Commercially fish the carp, grind them up into cat or dog foods? LoL.. Non-native species do wreck havoc on ecosystems, for sure.. Look at the Kudzu plants down here, they are everywhere, choke out other plants, trees, and destroy soil.. But I'll tell you, it is a pretty, flowering vine, and smells good.. My goats love it, so they keep it down in our pastures, now if these dang nags would contribute to the bush hogging lol..

Without a predator they will take over, fish and game has been trying to bolster other large game fish like Gar that would eat them, restocking places where they have disappeared from over fishing.

When I was a kid there was some older people who would take the carp and cut them up, put them in jars and sort of pressure cook them--I forget exactly--but they come out sort of like canned salmon--you know where you see the little bones in it but they are cooked and edible? Same way. I ate some that way and it wasn't bad at all.
Erin, I saw a deal on tv where they were renting goats out to clean up not only weed patches but also kudzu.......................and hell no I never ate beaver or coon or possim but I know lots who have. Turtle I have heard is awesome when it is cooked right. I also heard the turtle has 7 different tasting meats in one animal. Is that true Moons?
Now as far as the dogs go. I never have eaten it but if I was in the right place at the right time, I might taste it. In the old days when different tribes ate dog meat as a big ceremonial thing, it wasn't just any dog. It had been picked as a puppy and was given the best food, etc etc.........I think some still do this. On FB the other day we were talking about food and one of the guys said nothing was good as dog. I love my dogs and I would never eat one just to eat it, but if I was invited to a ceremony I would almost be obligated to at least take a bite.............
