I agree those boxes are ugly, especially in that horrid rust colour.
YR, Smart Cars may save you on gas, but where I come from, I'd be replacing the front end every month when I hit a coon. OK, maybe not the front end, but I'd bet it does costly damage.
Some pretty fugly old cars too, Gremlin comes to mind.

the AMC Pacer.......VW Thing.......AMC Grimlen........Ford Pinto......Plymouth Prowler.......Pontiac Aztec......Smart Cars (all of them)....Cadilac Seville.......
so many choices, how can anyone decide on just just one?

When you only see the back end of an STS, yeah, it would seem ugly.
