Opinions wanted on this boy. Sorry for the crappy photos, both are natural stance. Conformation critiques welcome but really looking for a general opinon. He is a new rescue intake dog, very little info came from the shelter. Possible purebred but I'm inclined to think there may be a cross back there somewhere. Very large dog, huge heavy bone, east-west in front, maybe 3-4 years old. He's close to 100 pounds now and needs to put on quite a bit. He is a lot thinner than he looks in these photos. For a size reference, (sorry I haven't measured him yet)  that's a 26" fursaver clipped together (wouldn't go over his head) and a 28" nylon slip collar.

Thanks!

He is chunky :) but good looking dog. Nice head, Put him on diet and you might be surprised he look pure breed to me, check maybe ddr mix. He looks a bit short on the first pic is it the picture?

Looks like a nice, strong boy. I think he is a pure GSD.

Going by the photo, he looks overweight, if anything. Certainly doesn't look as though he needs weight put on him.

Thanks y'all

Dave's a big dude. He's about 28" at the withers and maybe 32" - 33" inches long from his shoulder to hip. I just got him to foster yesterday, don't know much about him yet. Trust me, the coat makes him look heavier than he is. Both those pics were taken before a bath and good brushing.  I don't mind a ribby dog in a working dog, but his hips and shoulders have no covering on them. He's right bony for such a stout fella. I'm betting he's full of worms.

Thanks again!

He looks Czech/DDr to me with his blocky build, and I don't think he looks thin to me. He has a nice looking head.

That's a nice looking boy. I'm guessing he's purebred GSD, maybe DDR, maybe Czech, lines.  I'm going by the blocky head, color and overall shape. He's got more rear angulation than usually seen in those lines, though. I can't see his ribs in the picture, but you say he's thin. They only need a thin coat of fat over the ribs, but if you can feel his bones all over his body, especially spine and hips, he could be too thin for his build. He doesn't look thin, but coats hid a lot. If you can see all his ribs when he's panting, then he is probably too thin.

Dog is not too thin  he needs to be slimmer . Look at chest , neck and no ribs showing...He may lack muscle or needs some good working out...lol

Just like me.l

Thanks everyone for your opinions. My first impression on him was DDR (that huge bone) and maybe some Czech. It's his head that makes me think there might be just a little of something else. He's roman nosed, wide ear set, not much stop and a saggy face. I'll have to see if I can get a decent profile shot of him. Now that a lot of the loose hair is gone, it's a little easier to tell he's thin. Ribs all show, spine, hips and shoulders prominant. He may have paced weight off in the shelter and I know they weren't feeding him much in there. His muscle tone isn't too bad. A couple weeks of good food and some workouts (I need em too yellowrose!) and he should really look great. So far, he's a really nice dog and except for the recent fly strike on his ears, I don't think he's been neglected. I'm really hoping his heartworm test comes back negative.
