Northwestern Michigan Schutzhund Club?

Is there anybody in the Traverse City/Charlevoix area that is interested in forming a schutzhund/IPO club? I have a property up there that I would like to make my permanent residence, but I hesitate to move up there permanently with no dog training club in the area. I have 160 acres up there, 10 cement floored kennels and a big pole barn, so I have plenty of training space to host a club year 'round.

I'm currently a MetroDetroit Schutzhund Club member and I sure will miss John's skills! but I'm also getting sick of living in Metro Detroit ;) feel free to PM or post here if anyone is interested.

Look up Shelby Dean, Neuer Monde kennels. I believe she's up that way and might have a group or be interested in one. Otherwise I think the closest is Complete K9 in Spring Lake. They host a SchH/SDA club that I trained with for a few months. I live in Grand Rapids and now train near Jackson (South Michigan).

Hello valerie... definately no clubs up that way that I'm aware of. I live in houghton lake and train at a boxer club in thee tawas area.

Nothing up this way ,alot more Akc show people than anything and even then they travel to your area
for shows , and in the winter its hibernate time ......

I plan on being up there full time by next spring. Maybe we can gather enough people between now and then to form a club? I have a muscle-y husband that I am nagging to learn helper work.. but I dont really want him to work my dog (she already wants to bite him ;)

vomeisenhaus, my uncle-in-law is in Houghton Lake on the river and I'm there at least once a month fly fishing..we should get together some time and chat about it. maybe if we put together me, you, Shelby, 4mals, etc. we'll have a group..

Hello ..................... Shelby is moving back to Oregon in October ....is too bad cause she has a nice bitch just really starting to come around ......... atleast you guys are 2 - 3 hours from a good club .... I am in the U.P and must drive several hours when I come down to train with John or Gus or Harv ........................... :-) Greg

Thanks Greg ;) Shelby and I are Facebook friends and I saw she made an announcement. Too bad all the great michigan helpers are within an hour of each other. We need to get them to retire to Gaylord or something lol
