I have imported 2 dogs from Germany in the last 2 years and both are excellent dogs.
One is working towards going to Nationals in 2017, purchased at 7 months. The other was a puppy imported 7 weeks ago out of a top placing bsp dog and the puppy is an awesome young male at 4.5 months.

Both of these imports were purchased from people in the dog sport for many years.

It’s true that the only breeders you should/can comment on are the ones you’ve purchased from. But I’ve seen a lot of commenting/recommendations when the person asking is looking to do something completely different with their dogs. Like say you have bought a dog from a breeder to be a pet, and that’s all that the dog is. Nerves seem fine, dog doesn’t get spooked at everything that walks by, just an overall fine dog. The person is looking for an IPO prospect and asks about your breeder, and you comment with positive words about how amazing the dogs is and even state that due to the way your dog is day to day, you believe he would have no issues doing IPO…even though you’ve never done IPO. Person buys the dog, it fails at IPO, now what? I’ve also seen how personal relationships developed online without ever seeing dogs affect recommendations. For instance…I’ve read what kitkat has posted, I’ve agreed with him, I’ve seen pictures, I’ve also seen him post about the dogs he’s placed in police departments. I’ve never really looked into it, I have no reason to believe he’s lying, and it would in general be pretty tough to get that information from anyone but kitkat himself. I go and recommend kitkat because we’ve been in agreement and I kind of like him. Dogs turn out to not be what is being claimed, now what?

Someone on a different thread mentioned how bad something like posting a video is. People lack the objectivity to look at a video and judge it for what it is. They will ALWAYS use their bias towards the poster or whom-ever is in the video to make a critique about the dog in the video. I can guarantee you that if you were to post a video of any of the usual national level competitors doing some really questionable training or just outright terrible work, not a single person would openly say anything (unless they were anonymous). Post someone that doesn’t matter or no one has ever heard of doing the same thing…the avalanche of negative comments would be unbearable. Same thing happens with breeders. Known kennel name? Everything they touch is gold. Relatively unknown kennel, maybe just starting out but doing everything right? Questions abound. My favorite phrase “They’ve done it for a long time so they KNOW the dog can do it, they don’t have to test it.” Follow the breeders that let that statement go to their head…all the sudden the working dog placements disappear.

OK, lol.... Got it BW..
I think you you putting to much weight on any individuals recommendation. I myself would only rely on the personas input as to the customer service they were given by any particular breeder/kennel.
Every person in the market for a dog, regardless what they want one for, has an obligation to do a little research on their own, wouldn't t you agree!
I believe those I recommended, their dogs and their accomplishments pretty much speak for themselves.
My experiences are a starting point. Don t go betting the bank on my account, lol
There are quite a few people here who I wouldn't t hesitate to buy a dog from, for myself. Never dealt with them personally, but in private conversations, I would highly recommend them.
Even more that I would run as far, and as fast as I could, from.
