Personal experiences?

My newest import was due to come into season in Nov (she's only been here a few months). One of my other females came into her heat the beginning of Oct - right on time. She was mated on days 11-14 and we're expecting a nice sized litter in a couple weeks. A few days after we bred her, our newest addition came into heat (or so we thought). Our male was never seriously attracted to a degree of "here we are". Normally, I progesterone or/and do a vag cytology, but decided not to this time - my male is a pretty good judge of character. She bled very lightly for about several days and darkened up. Took her to the vet for cytology - nada in terms of epithelial cells and bacteria. We decided we either missed it or it was just a false heat. About a week or so later, she started to bleed again - this time, drops on the ground. My male is more interested and she's marking. Took her to our vet on Fri for cytology and she said this time she saw bacteria present and was about 20%cornified. Took her back in on Monday when they opened and there is more bacteria present and she was about 35%. Progress, yes. But not as much as I would anticipate. I did progesterone while I was there just for my own FYI but won't get those results until today. Thoughts and personal experiences with split heats? Mine are limited.

Looks like things are going well.  This slit can happen because of the move. The stress of that then your girls coming in can trigger a split. The first part is usually a no go as you saw and then the next part is for real.  This may also cause you to have a smaller litter than normal.

Do another Progesterone and see if goes up, once at 2 or higher, is a "real" heat; if you know or your vet, check Cornification of cells, more accurate.

have you done another Progesterone?

Update - We just assumed all was lost on this heat and had resolved to wait for her next "normal" cycle. Our vet said we were "dead in the water" on Fri and we just went with it. We had them in our large run together this afternoon and my husband heard our male yelp while he was working in the yard, so he went to investigate. He found them tied. ;)

Thoughts? Should I even both doing another progesterone tomorrow? Just for grins and giggles? Or no? I mean, at this point, we already have at least one tie (and a male going crazy) which would indicate enough hormone change to assume she's ovulating or at least hit our LH surge. His behavior is indicative of a "real" heat at this point, no?? The poor girl has essentially bled for a over a month now and he's not had much interest other than the occasional walk by lick and sniff or two.

I had a female go start a heat I was going away for a few days so she was left with my parents she stopped and then came in again about three weeks later. I was told it was probably the stress of me leaving her with my parents while I was away. I wasnt breeding her though so it didn't really matter
