Baerenfangs Erbe

by Baerenfangs Erbe on 16 April 2017 - 17:04

Personally, this is what I like. A pup that isn't afraid to come up, super clear headed, no sign of stress and nice full grips but also wants to push forward rather than dropping his weight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9DJU5fdm3M This is a son of my male. I don't want the batshit crazy. This boy will take longer to mature than the others. He wasn't interested in anything until he was six months old. He's going to kick some more in around 10 months but will be his strongest around 3 years, just like his father. I also know the types that show nothing until they are 15 months old. Our old breeding female Betzi was like this. In this fast paced world people just don't have the patience to wait anymore. If the dogs don't show crazy drives by the time they are 4 months old they are getting sold.

and this is the pedigree http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=2508148-convict-von-den-sturmfalken

Mithuna , correct .. Marcos son is a typical old type Czech dog , but my most interesting dog is xant , think once matured he's just gonna be used for breeding and adding aggression and hardness to overly prey driven lines or soft lines, and he's huge .. hes a gangsta type dog and not much else I can do to change it , the downside of xant is he's extremely dog aggressive, even for me

Agree with Duke . At 6 months I want to see more fire than that.

Xant is a full littermate to Obi the pup in the vid

Just because it's not noted, doesn't mean it's not there. There are plenty of pedigrees with missing or incomplete information out there. And I don't care about titles. What I care about is what I see in the dogs. I'm also not surprised that Mithuana says "he wants to see more fire." He can't recognize a good dog for the world of it. This is as clear headed as it gets in a puppy. No screaming, no stress, no issues coming up, not dropping his weight, pushing forward... all that shit talk about KNPV dogs and can't recognize a good one when he sees it.

Also, his energy is just fine. I'd rather have a super super clear headed puppy like this, than a nutjob. His father was a lot like this as a puppy. He's basically a clone. This is a super intelligent and easy puppy because he's so clear headed. The breeding was done for intelligence but we've also got super drives out of it. Again, this is a late blooming puppy. Also, Energy does not equate drive. I have high drive dogs with an off switch and lower energy because I cannot stand dogs that can't settle. Had a dog like that and he destroyed my house, ate the kitchen floor, porch etc. despite being worked for two hours a day. Nope! That ain't my cup of team. Also, this litter produced Seizure Alert Dogs that began alerting at 5 months of age. That my friend, is something special.

for me, there is a difference between clearheaded and level of energy, also the full calm grip thing is not so important to me, also there is a big difference between high energy and a dog that cant settle, Ive seen quite a few of those from baerenfang and korbelbach lines, so you should be familiar with that

I think you are talking about drive. NOT energy. Energy isn't drive and drive isn't energy. Not settling is energy. High energy dogs cannot settle. High drive is not the same as energy. This puppy is a high drive dog. He's clear headed and high drive. The helper is also a fantastic helper. He could make him bat shit crazy, using the whip and whatnot but he recognized him for what he is. A strong and very clear headed puppy. I don't give a rats ass what you think he is or isn't.

And this is exactly what Gustav and even I were talking about. People have no patience. They won't let them mature anymore. If they don't show  a certain amount of "crazyness" at a certain age, they are no good and are sold which is ridiculous.

Just a quick question off topic sorry is not settling a bad thing I never heard this phrase before

by duke1965 on 16 April 2017 - 19:04

interpretation of terminology, call it what you want, and I dont think your helper could make that pup bat shit crazy
I wonder how many people would say that is a high drive pup, but in the end, each to his own

LOL... just shows how much you don't know about this puppy.
I don't build drive in my puppies. I don't have to. I know exactly when it's going to kick in. I don't need to piss them off to see the quality in the pups. If clear headed means to you the pup is "low energy/drive" than you don't know half what you think you do.
