How can you have free speech when every post is being monitored and opinions controlled 😕

Pete obviously has some supporters here. Whatever you think of him, some of his posts were certainly thought-provoking and inspired discussion. I believe that he's a true dog-lover and tries his best for his GSD with the limited resources he has - and he has shown PROOF of his training, not just hyperbole. Too bad that the gag order went out, he was entertaining at least, and challenged the status-quo.

I liked the guy, did not always agree with him but as mentioned above he was a DOER not just a TALKER. That is rare on the internet.

What no one understands is I really enjoyed Pete but it doesn't excuse the bad behavior. 

 

So, do you guys want him back?

I don't know that I care one way or the other. I didn't "know him" at all (no PM chat, don't know him personally), but I can appreciate that he asked questions, started threads, this place seemed less stagnant with him around. Some people can be crude, very direct, or obviously pushing our buttons whether it really matters to them or is just entertaining. This has never bothered me, especially on a public forum. No one can make my dogs feel unworthy to me; I don't know anyone on this forum who has accomplished what we have, cumulatively, so I am more likely to give a smile and a snort when I read stuff like that then get all defensive. I don't care if people like to play Devil's advocate or want to challenge every little thing just because. I guess for lack of anything else, it at least keeps threads going?

I would like to see Pete back, IF he'll come back.   In fact, if you're gonna give him the option of retuning, then there's others who deserve the same - Beetree comes to mind.   Heck, why not just invite "the banned" posters from the whole year - this place would become a lot more interesting and active!!!

I think people should be respectful to other posters, even when they strongly disagree. That's the yardstick that I apply to a good and contributing poster. When people grow flippant, abusive and nasty when trying to put across views, they need to be pulled aside and re-schooled on manners. Bad behavior should never be deemed to be acceptable, regardless of how high and mighty they think they are.

I look at folks like Gustav/Clif, Suzie, BlackMalinois, Joanro etc as great posters who add a lot of value to the forum discussions. VK is a good guy overall, but absolutely need to curb his tendency to be flippant, abusive, insulting and trollish at times (which seriously flips people off).......and not just on this forum. JMHO.

Already are lots of strings attached to the site, so nothing new. If you want the site to be more active then allowing people back may help with that.
